JOHNSON VALLEY, CA, NOVEMBER 11, 2009: Raceline Wheels continues its 4 year reign as 2010 Griffin King of the Hammers Official Wheel. “Raceline Wheels and Greg Mulkeys participation in years pasts events and again this year has had helped us grow the event to the level at which it stands today,” said Jeff Knoll of Hammerking Productions.

Raceline Wheels is the racing division of Allied Wheels that is managed by a very familiar face, Greg Mulkey. Mulkey has over 30 years building and designing competition wheels to stand up to the toughest race that consistently brings back championships. Raceline has been a part of King of the Hammers since its inception four years ago. At last years race, 32 out of 92 racers knew the value in Raceline and competed with zero failures. “Raceline builds wheels meant to race,” said Mulkey.

Mulkey looks forward to this race every year. “We go out there for the consumer exposure and all out hard core racing. With King of the Hammers being the most demanding of all races combining desert and rocks it is a perfect proving ground for Raceline technologies,” said Mulkey.

Allied Wheels builds a complete line of aftermarket steel or aluminum, cast or forged wheels for street vehicles. They also produce trailer wheels and tires in addition to their large off road line up that includes ATV sizes and bead lock options.

Mulkey closes it with, “Look forward to seeing you at King of the Hammers, and if your not there…its your loss!”

Rob MacCachren and “Ballistic” BJ Baldwin have confirmed they will be competing in the 2010 Griffin King of the Hammers off-road race Feb. 12, 2009 in Johnson Valley, Calif.

MacCachren is a leading racer that successfully crosses over multiple disciplines of racing and comes out on the podium. “I’m excited about the opportunity to race the 2010 King of the Hammers race. I’ve followed the competition over the past couple years and I’m stoked about this chance to race,” said MacCachren.

For 28 years, MacCachren has been racing in the open desert. MacCachren has accumulated 5 SCORE Baja 1000 victories and another 5 SCORE Baja 500 wins. He was heralded as the premier driver after winning the longest distance (1296 miles point-to-point) SCORE Baja 1000 ever held in 2007. The multi-disciplined championship racer has accumulated over 150 victories and numerous championships between closed short course and open desert racing. In 2008, he was named DirtSports Magazine Driver of the Year. “I don’t see the challenge in this race as the desert section, but more the technical rockcrawling sections that I have limited experience in. However, we are going to be practicing over the next few months with some of BFGoodrich’s pro rockcrawling racers. These guys will really help in accelerating the learning curve,” said MacCachren.

MacCachren will be piloting the Blue Torch car that was built by blending a combination of rock crawling and desert racing technology. They feel that the motor and transmission combination is a winning setup. “We are excited to have someone like Rob take this car to its full potential and push it to its limits,” said Jason Carner of Blue Torch FabWorks.

Going Ballistic
Baldwin will be driving the #97 Ultra 4 car co-piloted by owner and racer Dave Schneider.

“Rock crawling never interested me previously because it was so slow. Racing to me is about going fast and challenging yourself. I have been fascinated by this new type of racing, once I saw King of the Hammers I was pretty impressed with what these vehicles can do. I think a lot of desert racers are interested in trying this new form of off-road racing,” stated Baldwin.

Baldwin comes to the starting line with SCORE, Best in the Desert and Short Course wins under his belt, but zero experience in the rock crawling world. Baldwin is no stranger to extreme conditions though. “Dave and I are very excited to have a high profile Trophy Truck champion that excels in the desert come out and attempt to tackle the Hammer Trails in a race pace,” said Jeff Knoll of Hammerking Productions. There will be 100 competitors that will race for the finish, and the win in what is said to be the toughest one day off road race on the planet. “It’s going to be awesome to see racers that typically battle in Trophy Trucks come out and battle it out in Ultra4 cars,” adds Jeff Knoll.

Baldwin will be driving the #97 Ultra 4, Co-piloted by owner and racer Dave Schneider. Schneider has been competing in rock crawling for over 8 years and has multiple class wins in SCORE and Best in the Desert. The #97 Ultra 4 chassis was built by S&N Fab from Arlington, Wash., and finished at Shaffer’s Off-Road in Carson City, Nev. The vehicle features a Chevy LS motor, a 3-speed auto transmission and an Atlas II transfer case. The car has 15 inches travel in the front and 20 inches in the rear.
