Scott Beauchamp Claims Cup Victory on
Goodyear Wrangler MT/R with Kevlar Tires

Mitch Dorr, Matt Gerald, David Demaegd, and Bob Birkholz
also Earn World Championship Victories on Goodyear

As a record number of Stock Trucks converged on Crandon International Raceway to compete in the “World Championship Mole Lake Casino & Lodge Stock Truck Cup,” it was Scott Beauchamp (pictured left) who earned a hard-fought victory during the historic 40 Year Anniversary at the venue coined the “Big House.” Competing against a field of 18 Stock Trucks, Scott successfully navigated his way through race traffic and took the lead for the eventual win in the final few laps. As Beauchamp crossed the finish line and took the checkered flag, he brought with it the final competition of Crandon Raceway’s 40th Anniversary celebration.

Scott Beauchamp, former World Champion and Crandon Mole Lake Casino Stock Truck Challenge Cup winner, says the MT/R with Kevlar is the best off-road tires he has ever used. “I can put the truck (pictured right) anywhere on the track I need to. With some tires you have to worry about getting out of the groove and into the loose stuff but the Goodyear MT/R’s (with Kevlar) actually get better – they have that much traction.”

For the fifth year in a row, Goodyear has earned more World Championship wins than any other tire brand and also has four World Champions for the 2009 season. During the 40th Anniversary Labor Day races at Crandon Raceway, 2008 Rookie of the Year, Mitch Dorr, (pictured left) also took home his first World Champion victory on Goodyear Wrangler tires during Saturday’s SRT Stock Truck competition. A second generation racer, Mitch is the son of Geoff Dorr, an accomplished racer and multiple World Champion.

“Crandon is all about traction, toughness, and durability. Most of the World Championship wins over the last 5 years came on the same Goodyear Wrangler tires that anyone can buy from their local Goodyear retailer,” says Goodyear Off-Road Manager, Jack Cummings.

Matt Gerald, son of 1996 World Championship winner, Kurt Gerald, was also victorious on Goodyear tires in the Light Buggy class. Following in the footsteps of his father, Matt had a remarkable day and an incredible lead during Saturday’s Light Buggy competition. Crossing the finish line in first, Matt commented, “What a great day! Our car was working so well and the day could not have gone any better for my team or my family!”

David Demaegd, driver for the No. 496 Grassroots Formula 4×4, not only earned the victory in the final race of the Midwest series, he also claimed the Formula 4×4 championship with eight first place wins and one second place finish in the 2009 season. Demaegd claimed the 2009 title on the same Goodyear Wrangler tires that are available at national Goodyear retailers.

Bob Birkholz, driver for the No. 526 Grassroots Enduro Truck, also took home a well-earned first place finish on Goodyear Wrangler tires during the final round of competition in the Midwest series.

DuPontTM Kevlar® Reinforced Sidewalls
Help Increase Sidewall Puncture Resistance by 35% for Confidence in Tough Terrain
The new Goodyear Wrangler MT/R with Kevlar is the company’s first D.O.T-approved off-road tire built with the rugged toughness of DuPontTM Kevlar® for enhanced sidewall puncture resistance. The use of Kevlar, an innovative material that is pound-for-pound five times stronger than steel, brings superb sidewall cut and puncture-resistance to an area of the tire that demands extra toughness when driving off-road. It also helps reinforce the sidewall for when drivers return to the pavement for the drive home.

Crandon, Wisconsin—In front of a packed “Big House” at Crandon International Raceway, Scott Douglas drove a flawless race to claim victory in the Kumho Tire PRO 4X4 World Championship. AMSOIL teammate Chad Hord, behind the wheel of an identical AMSOIL Kumho Ford F-150 finished second, making it a Douglas Motorsports clean sweep in TORC Series Round 11 race action. The pair of silver and black AMSOIL Kumho F-150s crossed the finish line just one truck length apart.

Both Douglas and Hord powered through turn one in great positions after Crandon’s often treacherous land rush start. Douglas was in third, with Hord directly in his roost. Scott Douglas took over the lead on lap two, with Curt LeDuc and Johnny Greaves in front of Chad Hord. Douglas stayed out in front of the hard charging LeDuc and Greaves, while Hord kept the pressure on looking for an opportunity to pass. Chad Hord capitalized on mandatory yellow restart to pass LeDuc and Greaves and move into second. Douglas and Hord overpowered the field following the restart and held the one-two position all the way to the checkered flag. In his first Crandon PRO 4×4 start, Chad Hord was awarded the Oakley Bomb Run trophy for the fastest race lap.
“The Douglas Motorsports crew is the best in the business,” stated Scott Douglas. “Preparing for a race weekend like Crandon is an around-the-clock effort with one truck. Fielding two doubles the effort and intensity, but

I’m fortunate to have a very seasoned team that takes this kind of thing in stride. Having our two trucks finish one-two in the Kumho Tire PRO 4×4 World Championship race makes all the hard work worthwhile.”

Two years ago, Scott Douglas won both PRO4 races and his second career BorgWarner Cup race at Crandon. “I love this track, it’s fast and wide-open, but still requires a lot of driver control. I was in my zone today and the truck is working great and I feel good about our chances for the BorgWarner race tomorrow,” said Douglas after Saturday’s big win.

But as exciting and fun as Crandon can be, it also has a very unforgiving side, which is part of the reason race fans love it. This year the BorgWarner Cup race aired live on ABC. Crandon’s turn one proved unforgiving with a major pile-up that took six trucks out of the race. Since the trucks had not made a full lap, the race was red flagged for a restart. Scott Douglas made it through the mayhem with minor contact, but that contact severed the brake line on the rear axle. The crew pinched off the line, but Douglas’ number 7 truck had no rear brakes. To make matters worse, Hord’s truck also lost four-wheel-drive. Restarting the race facing major disadvantages, the Douglas Motorsports entries ran as hard as possible to finish forth and fifth, just off the podium.

“It’s a shame, we had the trucks to beat today and I’m on top of my game. Things could be worse though…there are a bunch of trucks with major damage that were unable to make the restart. We’ll get ‘em in California” commented Douglas.
Crandon TORC Series action resumes September 25th and 26th at the Perris Auto Speedway in Perris, California. With the final race of the inaugural 2009 season schedule for October 23rd and 24th at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
