FORT MILL, SC – (May 29, 2009) – For the first time ever, off-road racing fans will be able to track the progress of their favorite Team General Tire drivers 140 characters at a time via Twitter, the hottest new social media communications application.
Beginning with the start of the race on Saturday, June 6, race fans or followers can log onto www.twitter.com/teamgt for up-to-the-minute progress reports for all of the Team GT drivers. Also, go to www.generaltire.com and check out the live tracking link provided by IRC www.racetheworld.net.
“We’ve been incorporating a wide range of the new social mediums into our overall communications plans, including Twitter and Facebook,” said Dana Zamalloa, manager of PR and communications, General Tire. “Twitter is the ultimate application for conveying real-time results to our fans. It’s a great way for fans to get up to the minute updates on Team GT’s progress during the race.”
General Tire is again ‘unleashing the fury’ in off-road performance for 2009, in the second year campaigning its Grabber competition tire. Designed with a tough, three-ply Duragen™-reinforced body construction to stand up to the rigors of off-road conditions, the Grabber also features a newly-developed competition-specific tread compound. In addition, the Grabber name and General Tire logo are prominently featured on the sidewall in red and white letters. The Grabber competition tires are designed in size 37×12.50R17 for class 8 and trophy truck/trick truck and 35×12.50R17 for class 1, 6, 7, 7 S, stock mini and Protruck.
General Tire also has a complete line of Grabber tires for the passenger and light truck market, including the new Grabber DOT-approved off-road tire (to be released later this year); the Grabber HTS, which delivers the perfect synergy of comfort, durability and performance; the Grabber UHP, which sets a whole new standard in performance and ride quality for SUVs, light trucks and crossover vehicles; and Grabber AT2, designed for aggressive all-terrain traction in all weather conditions.

LOS ANGELES, CA (May 27, 2009) – STREET CUSTOMS, back for its second season as part of TLC’s popular Turbo Thursday night line-up, features Ryan and his West Coast Customs crew merging the body of a classic 1969 GTO onto the rolling chassis of a 2006 GTO for X Games Rockstar Energy Drink Rally/Drifting Champion, Tanner Foust. STREET CUSTOMS’ second season debut was February 5th; original episodes resumed Thursday night, May 14th, at 10:00 PM ET/PT and continue weekly.
TLC’S STREET CUSTOMS highlights the talents of car customizing star, Ryan Friedlinghaus, former star of MTV’s mega-hit show, Pimp My Ride, and his unorthodox approach to managing his West Coast Customs family of artisans and technicians. STREET CUSTOMS features not only the process behind the builds, but showcases the West Coast Customs’ original designs that have propelled them to the top of the car-tuning game. The builds range in scope from customizing modern styled street rods to chopping up $100,000 luxury vehicles.
Season 2 of STREET CUSTOMS features builds for film legend Sylvester Stallone; pop icon Paris Hilton; Christian Audigier, owner of Ed Hardy; motorcycle-build icon Jesse James; and an incredible tribute-build to the late hot rod legend Boyd Coddington and more!
Founded in 1993 by Friedlinghaus, West Coast Customs is the world’s premiere vehicle modification shop, internationally recognized for its original designs, cutting-edge technology, and impressive clientele ranging from Sports and Hollywood A-listers to foreign royalty.
STREET CUSTOMS is produced on site at the West Coast Customs flagship shop in Corona, CA
