If I had 45 grand to spare, I'd throw it in my truck http://www.race-dezert.com/vb3/attachments/old/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

It would be great for a class one buggy but not for a truck. Only 330lbs of torque.

W/O an IRL car I wouldn't want it. The tune would likely be totally wrong for this use. And who wants to race in the Irrelevant Racing League anyway?

Yes your right, right now we got a class 10 car/ prerunner that has a 1600 toyota. I cant imagine the car with that engine. Wow i get all oooooooohhhhhhhhh just thinking about it. But i think we are going to sell the car any ways so nice to dream. But a good race engine would cost you about that for a 1 car 10 g's

$10k for the motor.... But how much for the Diaper? Didn't they still need them in '02? CART is still where it is at.

does the engine in the pics have individual pyrometers for each cylinder? i think the second is way better deal it comes with everything, plus they will dyno it in front of you. the other one doewsnt really say if it runs it just says its for collecters who want a peice of history

The t-couples stay with the dyno, not the engine.
Pretty common the put a thermocouple in each exhaust while on the dyno. That shows cyl to cyl tuning balance the easiest. The hard way (& more exact way) is to put a pressure transducer in each combustion chamber. There are now some pressure transducers built into a sparkplug, but they are spendy. Figure the non sparkplug model starts at $3700 each.

ok, i'll bite....whats a pressure transducer? How does it work? and what are the monitoring advantages over thermocouplers?

Its a fancy way of saying pressure sensor.

There's more to it than that, but that will work.

Yeah, kris. Its a tranducer that converts pressure to an analog signal.

ok since everyone here is versed in DFT's, FFT's and dee oh double G's...heres is actually what a PT does...it gives you numbers like the spread sheet below that were gathered from a lab experiment in college...using a water tower and PT's
http://www.animalhousedesigns.net/temp/presstrans.xls
you take those numbers and work A LOT of math and you get a curve that you can read the pressure from...
I didnt know people were looking for a mathematical model of how it works...but now they got one.

We have the '95 Indy Valvoline car. I think it was actually driven by Robby G. at Indy in '95 but I could be wrong. It's got the Cosworth in it and is a pretty cool car!!! I got stuck in it litterally. climb in, get one shoulder in the tunnel and then had some assitence with the 2nd shoulder. Once in couldn't really get out... You can see who drives it now!!! What's crazy is that's not nearly my favorite car out of the hot rod collection here at work!!!
Hmmmm, I tried to reduce the size but can't figure it out... It's MUCH smaller on my screen. I applogize for the large photo...

Actually we don't do all that math. Kistler supplied an amplifier/converter/magic box that outputs an easy to deal with signal as well as having a configurable read-out on the unit. Like I said, there's more to it, but that will work.
Khris, what's the story on that Anthracite '40? I get the feeling I've worked on it, but can't recall where.
