Laeger and I, while working today toyed with the idea about a remote pedal for a tig welder, I want to know if anyone has heard of one or has seen one?? I thought that the only reason it wouldn't work would be the HF start, as it screws with my radio, so a radio control would be difficult but not impossible, and infrared would be better but line of site.

Here is what we were thinking, much like an RC car I could make a pedal that functioned like a lever on an RC car controller that would send a signal to a reciver on the real pedal and run a servo on the real pedal that opertated the pedal, minus the spring, tucked nicely OUT of the way. Perhaps even attatch the remote pedal to your foot with velcro so you don't have to slide it all the time.

Basically what we were trying to achive is a way to eliminate the clumsy pedal assymbly on the floor and speed things up a bit.

?????Any takers on this one??????

Thats not a bad idea. You'll have to keep us all posted on that one. If you work something out I could definitely use one at work.

why not just get the one on the torch and eliminate the pedal all together?

I use both a hand control and a foot control in my shop. I run the hand control through the torch cover and when I cant use the foot control I just unscrew it's connector and connect the finger control. It's no more clumsy then the torch itself. Good luck, - Josh

Not too familiar with it, I have used an air cooled torch with a gas adj on the torch real bulky and clumsy hard to fit in tight areas such as and ATV so I think it would be out of the question. Got any pics of the torch adj or a link??
