This summer I am going to be building a new 7 Open truck and I am going to buy a new mig welder first. I was wondering which one to get, the lincoln or the Miller. They are similar in price and size, but I would like some advise on settings, features, advantages, disadvantages, or what ever you have to share. Thanks

I work for WestAir, when I get back into the office tomorrow I can check out both of them side by side and let you know what the Pros/Cons are of each machine and what will be cheaper to run in the long range scope of things. Generally I tend to lean more towards the Miller because of parts availablity, serviceability and warranty. If you go to any of the Westair locations tell them Josh sent you (sales Rep for Escondido) and you would like special pricing and they will get you set up on your wire and other consumables. Our prices on machines are as low as they can get. If you're in the Poway to Escondido area drop me a PM and I will get you setup. Currently I also do fab work for Matt Carter who races in the 7 Unlimited class in the CORE races and La PAz short course races as well. I try to help out with the off road/desert community as much as I can with welding equipment and such. Thanks - Josh

Thanks.......I was kinda leaning towards the miller too, but let me know what you think. Also--I sent you a PM.

You'll be happy with either one. It's like comparing Camburgs 5.5 ranger kit to H&M's 5.5 kit. They are similar in many ways but different as well. But when it's all said and done are the differences gonna be that much to sway a decision, probably not in this case.

Go with whatever one you can get the best price for. or if you like red get the lincoln, or if you like blue get the miller.

My cousin bought the LIncoln 250 or 255 Mig a month or so ago and was having trouble with amp spikage (the setting he would input would change once he started welding) so it started to undercut 3/4 inch plate. Anyways the customer service was horrible with lincoln and his business had a down time of two and a half weeks. Not good if you ask me. I own a lincoln but i think my next purchase will be miller after all the hoops he had to jump through

OK I compared the 2 side by side and there isn't much difference. Price wise Miller $1165.88 and in stock, Lincoln not in stock 6 weeks back order $1215.88 possibly lower but not much. Lincoln Powermig 200 in stock $1028.88. Miller consumables all in stock, uses same parts as Millermatic 251. Lincoln drive rolls special order, tip's are tweco in stock but come loose after first heat cycle. Big PRO Miller District Sales manager lives in Valley Center and is also a instrucor at Palomar C.C. welding program. Any other info feel free to contact me via PM or e-mail. thanks - Josh

only 2 and a 1/2 weeks? my tig 185 never worked right from the get go and it finally crapped out completely a few weeks after i had it, the ONLY reason I got my money back was because the welding supply shop i bought it from was run by a good friend who told me he`d fight with them on his own behalf to get the situation resolved.

i`ll stick with miller.
