With all the night races comming up and my limited knowledge on fogs I need some advice. What I do know, fog lights (yellow lens) omit a short wide beam. Now does the watt of the bulb and mounting location make a differance when running fogs on a race car 55w vs 130w, mounted high or low? Thanks' Ron Plunkett.

Yes, a higher wattage bulb will put out more light. However, the pattern of the light is determined by the reflector and lens, not the bulb, and because of this, the useable light won't necessarily double just because you doubled the wattage of the bulb.

Yes, the location of a lamp greatly affects the utility of it's light, especially whether it's mounted above or below the driver's line of sight (Roof vs. Bumper)

We tried fog lights many years ago, and went away from them, because as the car/ truck/ bike/ quad rocks up and down, the light almost has a strobe effect because it has such a short pattern. IMHO, don't waste your wattage on fog lights The minimum you should have is a couple of driving beams, and a couple of pencil beams. You'll have plenty of light from the driving beams for cornering and the spots will give you long distance light for those WFO sections.

A side note, if you're limited on wattage, it's better to run more lower wattage lights than just a few high wattage bulbs. ( Example: two 55 watt and two 85 watt lights are far better than two 130 watt lights!)
