A friend of mine at work was wondering if any of you guys might be able to help him out. Here is his question...
"I have an 87 Nissan Hardbody 4x4 with the 2.4 4-cylinder engine with 5 speed manual transmission. The engine has had some problems and is making a knocking noise that could be either a wrist pin or a rod.
I have found a 90 Nissan Pathfinder with a V6 and an auto trans. I was wondering if this would be a compatible swap?
The V6 is in great condition and it would be nice to get a bit more power in the truck.
Has anyone ever done something like this? Would I have to find a manual trans for the V6 and change that as well? Is there any performance problem with putting an engine from an automatic vehicle into a manual vehicle?"
Chris really wants to get his truck back on the road so if anyone has any info for him, it is greatly appreciated!! I'm not familiar with Nissans, so I didn't know if they have interchangeable bell housings, of if he may need to get a different tranny or what, so I told him I'd ask you guys.
Thanks
Wes
