i just have a little question before i go and weld the tabs on for my bypass shocks. so heres the question; ive seen shocks mounted off the front and the rear of the axel, i understand how eather one will help axel wrap a little, but is it better to have the shocks mounted off the back of the axel, or the front.... or does it even matter? thanks ahead of time,

With a bypass shock being soft a ride hight, I would think it would not do any thing for axle wrap no matter where it was mounted.

let the leaf springs control the axle wrap. mount the shock up high on the housing for better rock and sand protection. i like to mount them out on the ubolt plates myself. the farther out on the housing the better control of the wheel and the shock will work more effectively. also try not to lay them at to much of an angle. good luck

too late http://www.race-dezert.com/vb3/attachments/old/images/graemlins/tongue.gif since i didnt get any responces from people a few days ago, i just went ahead and did it. i was going to mount them off the front of the axel, but decided not to since building something to protect the bottom of the shock would look ugly, so i just went ahead and mounted them off the back of the axel. problem solved and i got the rear end completed (its a toyota). thanks anyways guys.

yeah - toyota's are tricky because of the wide frames. You can't move the shocks out on top of the leafs like you can on fords. I think you put um in the best place because they are protected back there behind the axle. On top is good for this reason too. Obviously mounting um in front of the axle exposes um to more abuse, but it can't be avoided sometimes. Guess I'm just a day late and a buck short like the rest though.
