Hey, anyone have experience with CB's Ultra Comp EFI in a VW? I'm considerind this application in a desert racer. I would like to hear the good, bad or ugly redarding this system for a desert racer or prerunner.
Thanks

Throughout the VW performance industry, it will be difficult to find many people that will recommend CB in any way. At the beginning of the long travel buggy craze, when VW's were still being used, many big budget builders tried CB fuel systems only to find that they were unreliable and didn't produce as much performance as a properly set up dual weber kit.

I've bought parts from CB. Can't recall a failure related to any of them. This is NOT in a race vehicle though. I would not buy EFI from them just because I know there are better systems out there.

The Weber replacement throttle bodies were pioneered by TWM in Goleta, CA. For electronics there are now WAY too many options. For a low dollar deal where you don't mind getting your hands greasy with electrons search Mega-Squirt. You should be able to build an EFI only computer (No IGN control yet) for $200-300
For a slightly more complex computer that you don't have to solder together search Simple Digital Systems (SDS). You should be able to build a complete system using either one of these computers for far less than the CB kit., and either of these allows you to reprogram at will.
