Very clever use of door hinges.

I like the zerk fitting. He took what appears to be only a little time designing it but spent the money and put in the extra effort to keep it squeak free. I wonder where the lag bolts and 4x4 wood block went?

Good concept but a little lacking in hardware.

A poorly executed yet great rock crawling idea. I think that the concept has been perfected by teraflex rear shackles. http://www.race-dezert.com/vb3/attachments/old/images/graemlins/confused.gif

This seems to work also. We have them on our race truck as well and have never had a problem.

i saw that a few years ago on a class 8 truck, but it also had two shackles and a four link.kinda lame for trucks but it works good on the golf cart.

Is that a Johnny joint being used? Kinda looks like one to me.

It looks like a Johnny Joint to me.

No it's called an Orbit-Eye Joint. It threads together, no snap rings (like a Jonny Joint) and pivots 38* unlike a Jonny Joint which only moves 27*.

That's pretty spiffy. Where do you get those from?

We have them machined for us.

Hey Fire Guys,

Do you guys have some sort of three link setup on your ride. I was wondering with regards to high speed driveability of the Orbit Eyes. Have seen them on Rock Crawlers around here and they looked to be spooky at highway speed, but what rock crawler doesn't look scary over 45mph. Anyway was thinking about putting them on a 94 Toy 4x4 extra cab with 62" leaves that doubles as a chase rig.

Thanks for the info

We run a traction bar to the top of the rear axle. I have pictures of this just not on this computer, I am at work at the station right now. I will see if I can put pictures of our set-up on here tomorrow. We have never had a problem with these Orbit eyes on our truck and the truck tracks real well. A common top speed for us is about 95-97mph on a dry lake bed and it has been 105mph down hill with the wind behind us and no steering problems. The other thing is we only have to replace the rear bushings about once a season because the springs aren't twisting with as much force.

I hope all these help. The reason the hiem is up on end like it is, is because we are getting too much articulation and we were articulating more than the hiems could handle the traditional way. I know it looks like there is a lot of force on it the way it is, but it works!

If you have any questions about them, AOR is our sponsor and they have also been co-drivers and the owner Kevin has also had seat time in the drivers seat. They can answer all your questions and would be happy to.
