Hey guys I am not into the motorcycle thing but I saw an article in a mag about this super moto thing. Saw that mcgrath and some other old names are running this now. Whats the deal with it? Do they jump or is it all flat track? Just curious any info would be cool. Thanks

It is a combination of a road race course with a motox course. The bikes are modified mx bikes with shorter suspension and road race tires plus many other mods. If you go to www.amaproracing.com (http://www.amaproracing.com) it tells you all about the specs of the series. The tracks need to be a specific percentage dirt and a specific percentage road. It is getting very popular becuase it is fairly inexpensive and tracks can be set up in a parking lot.

Here are some names you may recognize that are starting to race. Grant Langston, Jeff Ward, Ben Bostrom, Mike Cinqmars, Nicky Hayden, Doug Henry, Kenny Bartram, Ryan Hughes, and yes even Travis Pastrana. Just to name a few... http://www.race-dezert.com/vb3/attachments/old/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It looks bitchin' to watch....but ALL the fun is in actually riding it! We built a supermoto CRF450 at work with all the go fast/stop hard parts just to try it out. We went to some local tracks and damn is it fun. Sliding the bike around, stopping on a dime, accelerating super hard out of the corners....it's addicting. I was thinking of keeping my '02 CRF and motarding it and keeping my '04 for moto, but the bank account disagreed, so I had to sell the '02.

I beleive supermoto started overseas and its getting more popular over here in the states due to riders like mcgrath and metz racing. I heard metz is gonna start racing in europe once he gets a little more experienced with the sport.
