What's a good, strong VW transmission for a prerun buggy? Someone told me to look for a bus trans with a 6-web case. Is there a particular model number or year I should look for? Do any shops in the Southern California area sell ready-to-install off-road built VW transmissions? I'm planning on using 930 CVs, 3x3 arms, and a 2010(?) stroker VW engine. Thanks.

Dave, I don't know how much you are looking to spend, but you want to have a fairly strong transmission infront of that motor. I have a 6-rib bus transmission built by BITCON that has not been run since it was built. The tranny was going to be put infront of a 4.3L but then it got turbo charged, and I decided to go with a mendeola. So let me know if you are interested.

The 6-Rib is the 091 model and come from 1976-79 VW buses. Most 1/2-1600 use this setup. The 3-rib 002 model is from the late 60's through 1975. These are stronger than a bug tranny but not as strong as an 091.
Transaxle Engineering (http://www.transaxleengr.com) in Chatsworth can get you all setup. 818-998-2739 ask for Jeff.
