I am planning on putting 62s on my truck soon. I am more than capable of installing them myself, but i dont have a welder to do the job. I was wonderin how much any of you have paid to have these installed at a shop with a shock hoop? Also i want to keep the hoops from sticking out above the bed, i have the stock tank so shock angle is somewhat limited. Will i have to limit droop or bump to keep the shock low? Thanks Colin.

If you are going to run a set of 62" springs you will need to run a set of 18" travel shocks. These shocks will stick up above the bed. There is no point of 62" springs if you are not going to acheive the maximim rear travel 17-19".
The typical price for mounts is $600-800 and labor is $500-1000 to install. We have new shackles and front spring pivot mounts. You can see them at the OFFROAD EXPO (http://www.offroadexpo.com) .

I run a 16 inch shock on my truck and it gets all the travel that the 62 can achieve . I guess it all is based on proper shock location . We played with my mounting points quite a bit before deciding where they needed to go . Mine also would stick up above a stock bedside . So I'm not sure if you are going to be able to achieve what you are looking for without getting a bit crazy with the shocks .

I just got my 62's and 16" bypass shocks on.. I measured from the bumpstop on the frame to the axle or should i not take the bumpstop into consideration and measure from the frame to the axle.

Here is an Idea of the front mount and the shackle.

The springs will hit the stock gas tank so it will have to be moved or a fuel cell installed. The shocks usually have to go right where the stock gas tank is too. 16" shocks will work with 62" springs and you can achieve 21" travel but the shocks have to be on a little more angle then some would like. 18" travel shocks get expensive cause you have to go up to a 3" body shock (to get shafts thick enough to not bend when extended 18"). Another thing is that the stock parking brake will have to be eliminated because it will hit the frame and lock your rear wheels up under full compression. Remember, 62" springs require a spring-under conversion, custom front and rear mounts, longer brake line, etc.....

dan- the difference is that your springs have been dearched alot to get the ride height correct. a full 62 pack will do as much as 22", and a 16" shock would have way too much angle to cover the travel. for the big pack, 18" shocks are a good idea.

Erik, my truck cycles 21" without bottoming or topping out the shock and the angle is not too bad. We limited it to 19" just to keep the shackle from extending past 90 degrees so everything swings smoothly. With 16" shocks, airbumps would help so when the shock starts be become less effective at full bump, the airbump takes over. I do agree the 18" shocks would be better though.

You should add a delrin slider to your kit (attached concept, not for 62"springs) Helps prolong bushing life.

You can run the springs with the stock tank. I did it on my truck for a long time. I still had that stock crossbar that holds the tank in there and everything and it still cycled 19" travel....

I called baja concepts today about 62s and they said they have the low profile and a set for prerunners. They say the low profiles are a race spring that sit higher than the prerunner pack. Anyone know the diff? Also on the front spring hangers does it matter which way the hanger is mounted as long as the spring and axle are placed right?, i saw on dans truck the bolt is toward the rear, and ive seen pics of it the other way.

race pack may be stiffer and have more springs.....

there must have been a misunderstanding. there are 2 different 62's that we offer. and this just changed too. the f55 spring pack is the low profile, for a lower sitting truck. the f67 spring is 2" taller. the direction of the hanger doesnt matter. however you do need to check for clearance, as the wrap leaf will hit the gusseting on the hanger.

Heres what weve got so far, tommorow its getting the shocks mounted and put the bed back on. Havent really driven it but the new f55 spring from deaver is nice. Its a little stinkbug right now but by the time the beds on it should be perfect. Thanks to everyone for all your help, thanks erik (drtdevil93) for answering my questions, Travis (noodle) for the install help, and Dave Clark for welding it together last minute sunday night.
