Are 1/4" mild steel tabs boxed front and back with 3/16" mild steel considered acceptable strength for coilover tabs? Or as shown in the pic below the sides would be 1/4" mild steel and the front would be 3/16". Would this be too weak?

That would be plenty strong,maybe overkill.What you want it the thickness where the bolt passes through. Thats why you see a "washer" or small piece of material welded around the hole. I'd go with 3/16" side pcs and an 1/8" or thinner gussset-remember if the width isn't perfect you will be trying to squeeze the gusseet.

Thanks for the info - Im still gonna go 1/4" and 3/16" just for my own peace of mind, Id rather have it be too much than too little and have a coilover shoot through my hood http://www.race-dezert.com/vb3/attachments/old/images/graemlins/grin.gif

btw how much do a couple dozen of those washers run?
