does anybody have a beter idea of how to install rear fiberglass on an explorer becides throwing a sawzall at it and trying to glue it on?

you could rivet them on butyou`d see the rivets if you didnt have a lip all the way around them to use, that glue is also alot stronger then your probably thinking it is, to use the technical term its "like crazy glue on steroids"

If you did want to bond it using adhesive, 3M makes something. It's called Automix, (Part #8115) used for bonding steel, aluminum, SMC, and FRP (traditional fiberglass). Mainly used by OEM, and works great for roof panels, door skins, and quarter panels.

the glass on full pulls took about twenty hours to do.it needed huge amounts of triming and fitting and retriming and refitting.dzus fasteners are the way to go as we had looked at glueing it but the conture of the glass on the doors did not permit it.the quarter panels did not have enough contact area for the adhesive with out making some L brackets to attach to,and they would need to be welded to the body too.not to mention getting the door handle attached and adjusted would be alot more difficult.besides glue is for honda's and 70's vans,wing on.

how much of the door and rear fender need to get cut off? then what do i do? weld brackets to the inner body and bolt on the fiberglass?

the door and quarter panels go over the existing parts.i only had to cut the lower quarter panel because russ wanted better departure angles,plus it looks alot better.the door has 7 or 8 dzus fasteners and the quarter panels have 8.i bent the weld plates to have greater area to weld to,approx 35 degrees and 90 degrees.the 90's are on the top and the 35's are on the sides.look at some pictures of it and others to determine the locations. mark and measure everything out.drill holes where the dzus fasteners go and lay the panel back on.mark the hole on the panel and tack the weld plate to the panel after you measure the distance from the stock panel and the glass panel to make your bend."tack",(you like that john) the weld plate on to the door or quarter panel,test fit,weld,repeat.it all moves when you beat the truck so final adjustments may be needed.

You definately do not need to cut any part of your door off.
