According to the DMV website, 1975 and older vehicles do not need the bi-annual inspection. I have been told however that vehicles 1966 thru 1975 will need to be smogged upon tranfer of ownership. So, if I buy a 1973 F100 it will need to be smogged once to get it into my name then hopefully never again. Is this true? Anyone gone through this recently? Thx.

No you will not have to smog a 75 or older at transfer.

I'll second what the previous poster said. 75 and older vehicles are exempt from smog, even on transfer of ownership. (I do this for a living)

I understand about having the title in one of the smog on sale only zones. Got a address in El Centro. The Prerunner is currently registered at my home address so, I went to AAA and they can not figure out how to change the address for the prerunner to be titled in El Centro only and leave my drivers license and primary street car at my full time address.
They said change of address form will effect everything and not just the car to be registered in the sale only zone.
Goal is to register prerunners address in El Centro and mailing address to my home, And not effect my DL license and other primary car.
What DMV form to use???

Smog is not needed for transfer between family members...but this doesn't sound applicable in your case.
I think you can have two people's name on the title of a vehicle. If that's the case, you can add the person residing there to the title of the vehicle. I did a loan like this with my name as well as my dad's name on the lien and he lived in Maryland at the time.
Only problem is that the other person on the title has every right to use the vehicle so long as it's insured....hope you trust them :D

Help me find the form. You can change address online which changes everything. I can not find change address on the registration only.
thanks
