This is for all those constantly complaining about US policies regarding the innocent terrorists at Gitmo, the innocent illegals on death row, lack of human rights, civil rights, the evil American system of bullying and denying everyone everything etc etc blah blah blah.

All right all you humanitarians, seekers of truth, justice, and fairness...(Note how this procedure is carried out)

Where's the 'World Court' now?

After you are done reading the article, cast your eyes skyward and thank God that you live in the GREATEST COUNTRY on EARTH.
For my friends south of the border, be thankful that you don't live there (Iran)

Scott,

You are missing the point by confusing what the Vienna Convention on Consular Relation establishes and this action...... These are not FOREIGNERS.

Is it right to stone people to death???? Of Course Not! Those who live in theocracies were the Torah, Bible or Koran is the law suffer immensely. Here is the living proof that the separation of Church and State is a great accomplishment in some of our countries.

If you want to put a point forward the International Court of Justice (ICJ) was all over Iran during the Hostages crisis in 1979.....The US demanded Iran to comply with the treaty (VCCR)......What did Iran said? Well we will not comply because the USA didn't comply earlier with the ICJ demand to pay reparations to Nicaragua....so you can see why morally it is important to be spotless?

But in a nutshell, I agree with you....It is appalling. Sharia law (Islamic law) suxs big time:mad:

Are you implying that modern christianity is in any way relative to Sharia law?

What is modern Christianity BTW?

My statement was pretty explicit:
Here is the living proof that the separation of Church and State is a great accomplishment in some of our countries.

There is nothing written in between lines. But if push come to shove, then I am sure as soon as any fundamentalists group gets into power somewhere there is no NEW or Old _________(Insert religion here)_________.

You might want to re-check your timeline on that. The complaint of the USA vs. Iran regarding the Iranian hostages was filed with the ICJ in 1979. The complaint regarding Nicaragua vs. USA didn't begin until 1984.

You are right, I had my facts mixed up.......I must be getting old, I used to be sharp in crap like this.

Still, I think the point is somewhat valid....Countries cant pick and chose what to oblige to. If you are not complying 100% then you will get rants by the ICJ and other countries will use that as an excuse for not respecting your citizens.

Thanks for the link DSR!

Valid in some cases. I think it applies more to governments that actually recognize individual rights than it does the Iranian Militants that took our citizens hostage in Tehran. I really don't think the hostage takers there were all that concerned with the opinion of any international body.
