Who actually decides who the prize goes to? Is it a panel of liberal left wing loons? They are so open minded their brains have fallen out, how the HELL could Al Gore be seen as a better candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize than that woman???
But remember Pat, if it wasn't for Al Gore, we wouldn't have this internet we are using:cool:

The Nobel prize like so many other things has been corrupted into a purely political travesty.

Al Gore and His 35 Lies
It's been established that Al Gore's hysterical An Inconvenient Truth is riddled with politically motivated errors (i.e., lies). The British government ruled that it was unlawful to force-feed the schlockumentary to school kids without giving a disclaimer, since an Act of Parliament prohibits the political indoctrination of children.
The British court cited nine major lies passed off as science in the Goracle's movie:
1. The film claims global warming is responsible for the gradual retreat of the alpine glacier atop Africa's Mount Kilimanjaro. Scientists have conclusively demonstrated no such link exists.
2. The film presents graphs indicating that fluctuating carbon dioxide levels have always preceded and caused global temperature fluctuations. In fact, temperature changes have always preceded carbon dioxide changes.
3. The film suggests global warming caused Hurricane Katrina. Few hurricane experts believe this, and substantial scientific evidence indicates global warming is having no impact on hurricane frequency or intensity.
4. The film asserts global warming is causing Central Africa's Lake Chad to dry up. In fact, land use practices are causing the drying up of Lake Chad, and Central Africa is in an unusual and prolonged wet period.
5. The film asserts global warming is leading to polar bear deaths by drowning. Yet the only documented drowning deaths occurred due to a freak storm, and polar bear numbers are growing substantially.
6. The film claims global warming threatens to halt the Gulf Stream and initiate a new ice age. The vast majority of scientists who have studied the issue have determined such a scenario is implausible.
7. The film asserts global warming is causing the destruction of coral reefs through bleaching. Scientists have identified other causes for coral bleaching and have additionally noted bleaching is a natural process by which coral continually selects ideal symbiotic algae.
8. The film asserts Greenland is in danger of rapid ice melt that will raise sea levels by 20 feet or more. The scientific consensus is that any foreseeable Greenland ice melt will be gradual and will take centuries to substantially raise sea levels.
9. The film asserts the Antarctic ice shelf is melting. In fact, only a small portion of Antarctica is getting warmer and losing ice mass, while the vast majority of Antarctica is in a prolonged cold spell and is accumulating ice mass.
Link for a very detailed account of 35 lies in his award winning film.

I heard this story a while back and it simply disgusted me. To think that the silver spooned Al Gore "beat" this women out of the acknowlegment of her sacrifice is a true testiment to the egotistical institution that once was a great accomodation. It just shows that the Pulitzer Prize is just as worthless as an Emmy or an Oscar in the "Real World" and I dont mean the trash that is on MTV.
"F" them all, time for revenge of the common folk just like it was in 1776... Ironically our Indepence day is only two days from now, allthough the Declaration of Independance was signed on this day, July 2 1776.

Unless the biatch is as hypocritical as Mother Theresa was....Which is also a Nobel Prize recipient....
If Mother Theresa got it.....Heck, why not Barney ? After all there are not many purple Dinosaurs who makes kids laugh....That is an amazing accomplishment:D
I agree....Nobel peace prizes are not what they used to be. On the medicine and scientific ones, I don't see many scientists or doctors crying about them....I guess these guys are really in their job for the job itself....not just the recognition

Actually,
On July 2, the Congress voted to accept the document after some editing. On July 4, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was formally accepted. It was formally signed on August 2, 1776, with some members adding their names after that date.

Dude, that was rude and uncalled for!!!
I do not understand why you would call this woman who risked her life for many children that name!!!!
Do you have some reason for doing that or are you just trying to be a jerk and get a reaction from people?????:mad:
That seems to be very low class to me and I do not see a reason why you would do that at all, especially after comming off a time-out for bad behavior!!!
What is up with that???
Noone brought up mother Teresa or Barney, people were just saying it was dumb that AG got the award over this woman, who seems to be a much better choice for a "Peace" prize. Then for some reason you go off on her calling her a name and asserting that she is hypocritical. Why the attack???? What gives????
You just lost a TON of respect in my book!!!!
EDIT:
Did you crap on this woman simply because PJC was the original poster, and it was negative toward Al Gore?
Man it sure seems that way and if that was it, that was very petty and rude! You need to grow up!

Mother Theresa is one of greatest Frauds in the 20th century....
Read:THE MISSIONARY POSITION:
Mother Teresa's Crimes Against Humanity
By Christopher Hitchens.......There is overwhelming evidence this woman was more harm than actual help.....And when I say evidence, I mean hardcore tangible evidence.
In that sense I say, If she got a nobel peace prize, then why not Al Gore, or Barney?
On that sense I agree with PJC, Nobel Peace Prizes are a joke.
Now, Chris, I dont blame you for your initial reaction towards my comment of Mother Theresa, but I urge to examine what their detractors have to say....specially Hitchens.
This is just a small article....Hitchens is so well respected that even the Vatican Hired him to consult him on why Mother Theresa shouldn't be beatified. You will love the Book and Hitchens style....

Gustavo,
You totally missed my point and NEED to re-read my post!!! I don't care about mother T, and I don't know much at all about Irena Sendler but YOU called her a name and as far as I can see it was completely unjustified and you made serious accusations of Irena being a hypocrite. I just don't get it!
Carefully, Re-Read then go from there!

I still don't understand why you hate AG. What did he do to you?
And about the Nobel it's not like he ripped it off Ms Irena's hands. A third party decided to give the award to him, whatever the mechanism or their hidden agenda not AG's.
I still don't understand why you hate AG. What did he do to you?
What is wrong with Owl Goron?
Aye ya ya!
Are you an off-roader or a Hybrid Car Tuner?
For a moment, I could have labeled you a "Product of California Public Schools".

This is hilarious. Mother Teresa??? Yeah, from what I hear, yes, she was kind of a biatch, she hated the people who gave her money for her work and questioned her own faith at one point to boot ... but to bring it up in the middle of this conversation, Infy, what were you thinking?
Listen, I love Hitch, but the dude is a drunk, latent uh, "poppinjay", unbridled egotist and has a tendency to go after big names with questionable reason ... other than the greater glory of Hitch himself. I would suggest you not lean on him too heavily.
But seriously, last year they threw a big party for the Nobel, i remember Annie Lenoxx as just one of the stars who performed. Who would have performed if Irena won the prize, Woody Allen?
Nobel Prize: Can you say vehicle for self-congratulation? Pat is right on this one ...
