Where are all of the Hollywood celebrities holding telethons asking for help in restoring Iowa and helping the folks affected by the floods?

Where is all the media asking the tough questions about why the federal government hasn't solved the problem; asking where the FEMA trucks (and trailers) are?

Why isn't the Federal Government relocating Iowa people to free hotels in Chicago?

When will Spike Lee say that the Federal Government blew up the levees that failed in Des Moines?

Where are Sean Penn and the Dixie Chicks?

Where are all the looters stealing high-end tennis shoes and big screen television sets?

When will we hear Governor Chet Culver say that he wants to rebuild a 'vanilla' Iowa, because that's the way God wants it?
Where is the hysterical 24/7 media coverage complete with reports of cannibalism?

Where are the people declaring that George Bush hates white, rural people?

How come in two weeks, you will never hear about the Iowa flooding ever again?

I saw on the news this morning that they requested some help to make sand bags and build the walls and within an hour 50+ cars and 100+ people showed up to help.

They're dealing with the problem, not whining, complaining and blaming others for it.

It is a different story!

Both NO and Iowa have faced devastating natural disasters.

The good, rural, heartland people of Iowa are pulling up their bootstraps and handling their problem. In contrast, a very large, lazy, entitlement mindset population of NO did nothing but complain. And.... THE MEDIA LOVED IT!

I would say most of the folks in Iowa / middle America are conservative white people and that doesn't fit the 'victim' mentality or agenda of those listed ( liberals, celebs, media etc...) In order for the left to function there has to be a 'victim' and there has to be someone else to blame. The difference can be found in the actions of the people affected. The people in Iowa don't act like victims they just pull together and work through it. The converse can be said about Louisiana. Also, I would like to point out that the people in Louisiana were TOLD to leave and many didn't. My parents lived in a suburb of New Orleans at the time of Katrina and when they were told to leave...they left. Imagine that.

Most lost everything anyway, despite staying and becoming part of the problem. What good is anything you own if you are dead?

Funny you post about this. My family and I were just talking about this very subject as my Step Father grew up on a Iowa Farm. Why aren't we hearing the families from Iowa crying? Because those people are hard workers who understand and have built everything they have. They don't have time to sit back and whine about it. They have too much pride to just sit back and expect someone else to come in and take care of them and their town. They know what it means to have to work for everything, and what it means to step up and help your fellow citizen. Most of the people in Iowa were not raised holding out their hand looking for a hand out.

"They know what it means to have to work for everything."

I could not have said it better so, I simply highlighted your accurate and excellent words.

Most of my neighborhood got wiped out by floods a few weeks ago! It's just a bummer to see everything these people work for gone. As I drive home and I see people trying to salvage what they can. I still can't look them in the eye!Fema and the Red Cross are running around trying to do what they can! Most Insurance companys won't cover floods cuase by nature. Most people around here are kind of stubborn about taking hands outs.My wife and I tryed to help and most people say they will manage. Femas policies on government devastation loans are pretty lame. To be qualified for an assistance loan. Lets say 50k to repair and replace. You must make less then 19k a year. Who the hell makes less then 19k a year and owns a home? If you make more then 19k a year you can refinance your loan through Fema and then barrow the amount it would take to rebuild your home(most need to be leveled) So,take the 120k you owe, barrow another 130k to rebuild. Now you owe 250k on a 130k home with a rate of 2-3%. To me that equals bankruptcy. I can say one thing thou to touch on the "deep meaning" Alot of community organizations such as churches, colleges, elks clubs, ect. ect.ect. Set up shop(using there own funds) to help people with food, medicines, shelter, clothing and so on. The first two hundred people in line were not people from around here. I've attached about 20 foto's taken from the air.

As a lot of you know I am an insurance agent and I always tell people that the responsible pay for the irresponsible. Its good to see that these people are doing what they need to get going again and not relying on the hand outs of others.

Its the way people are in the Midwest and some other places, we try and figure it out ourselves, and if we cant then we might ask for help. My friend had around 12 feet of water in his house filled the basement and part of the first floor. most of the people that I know had their basement fill with water.

This is part of an email sent to me from a friend :

Have you seen the pictures from Iowa, etc. of the people looting the liquor stores, carrying away televisions from retail stores, sitting on the roof begging for someone to take care of them, collected in the baseball stadium complaining about the food and shelter being provided?

Neither have I.

But some on here want to elect BO to create more dependents on govt.

That is simply because "some on here" likely want the hand outs he is promising.
