I'm starting to look at coverage for my prerunner (not street registered) and I was just wondering who has good rates out there. I have heard that State Farm is pretty aggressive. Thanks.

Any OHV guys out there who are carrying insurance?

Why not use the same company for all of your insurance? I have state farm on everything. Motorcycles, cars, house, cell phone (just kidding, not anymore).

I am using an Allstate agent by the name Don Kent for my 4 seater.

You can get some liability from your regular insurance company for a descant rate. Its when you get into comp/coll. when it starts to get crazy (depending on the prerunner). Motor cycles and dune buggys/4 seaters cross over’s are easer then trucks. Every one should get liability if you need/want to protect your assents.
You could call me in cali. Or Alex (sign on here is “the insurance guy”) or Michael James (I think he is in L.V.). both Alex and work for Farmers which owns Foremost insurance that specializes in stuff like that.

Thanks for the input. I have most everything with allstate but they aren't competitive with state farm (liab., comp., coll.). I already have a couple of policies with state farm but was hoping there was someone else out there who might be better.

state farm is quoting - 60k replacement, 100/300k comp/coll at $768 per year. I need the higher comp/coll for my blanket policy. 60k doesn't cover it but going to 100k is like $1,170 per year.

In the unlikely situation that you do have a crash, how do they assess the damage value?

My builder (sandco) just went through his second claim, where the car owner wanted the him to do the repairs. The builder showed him what the cost of parts were and how many hours it took to build a car. When the adjuster suggested he might be able to get a cheaper bid from someone else, the builder pointed out that it would be unlikely that another fabricator would have matching jigs, etc. I guess that ended the discussion, and he paid. My builder said state farm and farmers turned out to be reasonable to work with. So I guess the answer is parts and labor.
