Looking to buy one for X-Mas. Mine is an old vhs-c that needs to be retired.

Thinking of either a minidv, dvd, or hard-drive. Nothing HD/high $ as I'm not using it for production, just family and racing action.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

How much money are u willing to spend?
Cannon and Sony have great mini dv cameras. I would go with a Sony the are great I used on during my classes in film/art school. you can beat the crap out of them and they will still continue to work. But the more money you shell out the better. Hope this helps!

do you ever plan on putting your footage on your computer? Editing at all?

Yes...not anything too high tech but we have a website that we'll want to through some vids on.

Thanks for all the input.
