In light of the fires down south... FWIW.
Everybody should have these same photos of their tools stashed away in a safe place. NOT in the tool box!
If you ever get ripped off, or other disaster, you are going to need the photos for insurance. My business agent also recommends a video of the entire business, in every drawer, closet, office, even in the head; at least once a year, and stored in a safety deposit box along with the back-ups for your computers, and books...
Just something to think about in light of events.
Hope you all are safe!

So did you just get a snap on catalogue and decide, "I want one of these, and one of those, 3 sets of these, oh, those are cool, 10 of those...."
seriously thought I wish I had 1/4 of that. Nice collection, Bet it cost a fortune, or did you high-jack a tools truck?

These pictures actually were taken for insurance purposes. The last time I took any was back in '04. So after adding a new box and side cab a couple of months ago I thought it was time to update.
Here are some more. The best is yet to come,,,,the socket and air tool drawers:eek:

DC looks like you are a favorite customer of your local snap on dealer.
i see you purchased a number of things from the Essex truck when you came out years back. they had some great products, too bad the truck didn't make it past about 2000. it wasn't run well and they lost money on all the guys who skipped out.
curious why you buy so many of some of the same things, such as offset snips.
i understand a couple pairs of each...
do you have a box at home in the garage or is your collection with you at all times?
i have to say, you are far more organized than i am. impressive. that is quite the coolection of gear you've got. key thing is you know how to use them. just because someone buys a bunch of tools doesn't make them a mechanic or fabbie. how many times have you seen it....

Do all the fabricators at HMS have a similar stock of tools? And what's the deal with all the blow-guns? I counted like 12 of them, I consider myself unhealthy for owning 4.
I am super jealous of the die-grinder stash, it would make life so much easier to be able to simply swap grinders to alternate attachments.

Ya the Essex truck was cool, bought a lot of stuff from him. Probably spent more then I made while I was back there. I have a lot of snips because when I was doing IMSA and CART I was constantly making heat shielding from stainless or ti, so my snips are all marked "stainless", "ti" and "aluminum". That was the only way I could keep a sharp pair around for doing aluminum work. No tool box at home other then the one I made up for when I was heavy into cycling and another hobby tool box.:D :D
You tool box is like the size of my garage!!! I envy you!!! I thought I had a tool for everything but I guess not. How did you even afford to buy all that.
A little at a time, I've been building this tool box for over 23 years.

No, most of the guys here are still green and need to just start buying tools. But there are a couple that have enough to get done what they need to get done.:) :)
you have more tools than my high school auto shop
That doesn't surprise me last I heard High School Auto Shop was dieing in favor of computer lab so we will have a generation of cream puffs that all they know how to do is sit behind a computer instead of actually producing something. Honestly I didn't think Auto Shop existed anymore. Glad to hear some schools have come to there senses.

Wow....I thought I was hot stuff after putting side boxes on my rollaway. A collection like that takes TIME to collect. I couldn't imagine having 20 die grinders. The only bad thing I will say...why the $20 Home Depot router bit set....and what are you using a wood router for? Your 1/2" drawer must cry everytime you open it. Nice collection, even nicer how you keep your tools. OCD is a good thing sometimes. Thanks for sharing.

Using a cheep router and a chamfering bit deburrs aluminum plate very nicely. That's how I deburred all the flat tooling plates in the "Something New" thread. Hell of a lot faster then a file.:D :D :D

What a neat idea, and easy. I'm also curious as to how many times you've traded up/ changed boxes to get the setup you've got now, and if any of it is custom done, or if it is all snapon catalog stuff. Pardon my ignorance, but outside of the basics, I really didn't know what's out there, until I saw your setup.

Traded up three or four times. The risers are custom done by me. I used the snap-on door and back and made my own sides and top. The snap-on ones were not full depth and I wanted them to be full depth so I made my own. The color came out a slite bit darker but it's hard to tell unless your looking for it.
i picked the drawer i was most proud of in my box.
Dude,
I don't know what makes me more jealous, your organizational skills or the stickers on your box,,,,,,,,no,,,, it's the quality of magazine you keep around.

No those are actually chassis punches. They are for punching holes in electrical service panels and are made by Greenly. they range in size from 1/2 - 4 1/2 dia.
Try this though, kind of expensive but it works good.

I was once told by a wise and very talented old guy that you can tell how good a mans work is just by looking at his tools and how they are kept.
I've seen the work and now I've seen the tools. The old guy was right!
