Given this is the "Mainstream Media" forum this is probly the best place for this post....OK about 8 months ago I subscribed to the magazine hoping to support another dezert racing oriented outlet (as I already subscribed to Dirt Sports)...I ended up receiving one issue and now they have folded their tent and gone completely online with no print...

Those are facts...now for the opinion....

Given that most of their "stories" are simple regurgitations of the finish results and that their "news" is simply press releases where did the money of the subscribers go to? I understand the business world can be a beeotch and that plans can change....I just don't like being jerked around and I feel like they did that to their subscribers and others as well given their track record now of having started a magazine...folded...restarted the magazine...folded...offered contingency money...then didn't...moved to Moab...and now have gone only online...

Now for the rant...

I'm not sure what they do in the Dirt Industries offices...but it ain't much...

And I thought I was the only one.......

Funny just now I googled Dirt Industries and the second hit was this post. I gave them my credit card for a subscription at the Extreme Off Road Show in Costa Mesa earlier this year. I have never seen an issue. This popped in my mind one night a few weeks ago so I found their website to try and contact them. Of course they don't give a phone number so I used the contact form online......several times now.

After reading your post I know who I'm dealing with. I will have American Express remove the charge tomorrow. I can't believe you and I are the only ones......I'm going to post this elsewhere and hope someone gives names and numbers so the industry can recognize it's scumbags.

I even asked TORR (Totally Off Road Radio) if they could find out what the deal was as "Dirt Industries" is a "sponsor" of the TORR show...I keep visiting their site to see if any actual material pops up but I don't see any...simpley reposts of company press releases...

All we found out was that the magazine will no longer be in print but will be an online magazine. This is all that we've been told.

I wondered how they could print such a nice mag with no advertising, I guess they can't.

The conversations I had with people in the industry while mag was being published were very positive, my guess is the people publishing it didn't go in with bad intentions or to jack a couple hundred people for 10 bucks.

Send an email to through the website, I suume they would make some sort of accomidation to save face and keep customers comming to the online pub.

Moab? Who told you that? Anyway, I spoke to Andy who runs things over there. Anybody wanting their money back on undelivered zines contact him through the Dirt Industries site and they'll refund your cashola.. No problem..

One more time though- Andy gave that mag away for FOUR years before charging subscriptions. Just for the love of the sport. That was his own cash and the few subscriptions they took came nowhere close to what he had put out.

I know this because I photographed and wrote for this mag. I'm just as bummed it's gone as anyone else.
