View Full Version : NEW, AGM Jacking system

All German Motorsport (AGM) has introduced our jacking system to the public. When seconds are everything in racing, imagine shaving minutes off your tire changes. This could mean the difference between wishing you were on the podium or being on the podium.
http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l274/desrtrat256/jacking.jpg
Just the basics of what it can due. Im working on more pictures and video right now. Hopefully a website should be up in a week or so. but here are the basics
System runs off the powersteering pump. 1500 psi pump will give you 7300 lbs of lifting force per jack.
We offer it in 3 different lengths.
Mid travel: 24 inches of travel. perfect for cars with low to mid travel.
Standard travel: 30 inches of travel. Used on our class 1 car for 2 yrs now.
Long Travel: 33 inches of travel. Perfect for those big travel high powered trucks.
This system is extremely light compared to the competitors. the whole system,
Jacks (2x), and Control manifold weigh in at a little over 50 lbs. Which is nothing when it save minutes on the course.
30 inch jack reaches full travel in just 7 seconds.
If you have any questions feel free to ask. This system has been race tested in our class 1 car. AGM average tire change is from 1 min 15 sec to 1 min 30 sec, from the time the vehicle stops to the time its racing again, with the driver never having to get out or even unbelt.

Have you guys had the chance to try it in deap silt? And I assume that the engine has to be on.

If the unit fails, do you lose all of your power steering? Can it be run on a seperate (Non motor mounted) pump?

We offer 2 different size foot pads for the jacks. a 12 inch which is being ran over in Dakar and an 8 inch that we run. We have heard of teams getting themselves unstuck out of the sand in dakar with the system.
And as for failures it will not take out your powersteering. There is a main feed line to the control manifold, while under normal operation it bypasses the system. Turn the valve to activate the control manifold then another valve to pick which jack. Very simple to use aswell as small and dependable.

I got the full demo at the drawing party this weekend. Great idea and very nicely done. The most important thing is that it eliminates the need to carry a nitrogen bottle.

AGM System
Purpose built system
Ready to operate at any time
100% mechanically operated (no electrical failures)
3 different lengths of travel
2" 4130 piston rod
control manifold wiegh 4.3 lbs
length 3.95" width 2.75" overall height 6.15
Howe system
18" of travel
1 1 /4 piston rod
get out install foot, operate jack, take off foot
control manifold weighs 24lbs
length 7.5" width8.75" overall height 7.25"
I by no means am talking bad about the howe system, it works well. In just the facts alone show that the AGM system is a very well thought out and built system.

I understand, and I don't mean to play the hall-monitor. Commercial posts are just gerenrally limited to the Industry News (http://race-dezert.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=7) section. Looks like a great product.

Looks like a great product.Maybe you could forgive them if they send the solid models to you for the cad-library? Don't need all the parts...just the ones on the outside to figure mounting and routing.

Can you show us a photo of the jack retracted? I'm interested in how the foot clears rocks, etc., when skidding over something at speed. Thanks.
desrtrat256
September 28th, 2007, 15:52
The foot of the jack sucks up tight to the skid pan. There is a 60 lbs spring with a detent system that holds the ram up while moving. On our class 1 car we run a little triangle peice in front for deflection purposes. We have never had an issue with the jack getting pulled down by rocks, bushes, etc. There are 2 led's in the dash with micro swiches on the ram. If the foot is down teh light is on.

With continued success and alot of new developement in our jacking system I figured I would bump it to the top of the forums. We also have a lot of new product we are offering to the public as well. more pics and info to come on that. If you have any questions please contact us at jacks@allgermanmotorsports.com.

ORW said $7000.
Overview
- the jack has 30 inches of travel
- the jack reaches full travel in 7 seconds
- Using a 1350 psi power steering pump each jack can lift 6570 lbs
- Using a 1500 psi power steering pump each jack can lift 7300 lbs
- You have your choice of two lifting pads- the 8 inch Baja pad or
the 12 inch Dakar pad.
- The Control Manifold is 100% mechanical(less chance of failure)
- The Manifold's fully assembled weight is under 4.5lbs
Materials
- The cap, piston, lower housing, foot and pad are all billet 6061
aluminum, and have been anodized for corrosion resistance.
- The jack body is 6061 aluminum, and has been hard anodized to extend
the life of the part.
- The piston rod is a 4130 center less ground shaft, 2 inches in
diameter.
- The manifold is billet 6061 aluminum.
Additional features
- There is a micro-switch mounted in the lower housing, that you
wire into a light on the dash, which will illuminate when the jack is
not in the fully retracted position.
- There are three detents mounted in the lower housing that act as a
mechanical stop. Preventing the jack from dropping down when not in
use.(This system is a backup to the hydraulic system)
- The jack pad can pivot up to 20% from center in any direction, to
allow the jack to adapt to uneven surfaces.
- There is a 60 lb spring mounted inside the jack foot. When the jack
is fully retracted, the jack pad will contact the floor of the
vehicle and engage this spring. This spring holds the pad tight to
the floor of the vehicle, preventing rock or dirt from getting
in between.
We also offer a 24 inch travel and 33 inch travel jack.
