I like the fact that someone is finaly trying something different with their rear suspension. Trailing arms are so last centery. Looks good, on your next design you should try to make it use the same lower wishbone and the same upper wishbone all the way around the car for maximum interchangability. Good job.

Now there's a winner of an idea. Why on earth would anyone want to do that on a RWD buggy? I got news that spans both centuries; front suspensions are different from rear suspensions. :)

How did it work? Did you have any issues or did everything work out as you planned?
Looks great, I bet it felt good to get it out there.

The car worked very well. It was our 3rd trip out, we made a few shock changes, ie: valving, spring rates, and ride height. It was a huge improvement over the last 2 times. Still has a bit more shock testing to do but for the most part everything seems to work very well.
So far no issues in the desert, although we do have a nice list of things we will be changing for accessibility and ease of prep.
We also have a few body changes to make it more functional.
We are always looking for improvement. :)

Not sure I dig the lines of the body, but it could grow on me. There are some really cool fetures to it, the rear suspension is something I have never seen, I don't know enough about suspension to know what's good or bad about it, but I like that you're thinking outside the box. That frame table is pretty cool too, the alluminum tubing hold-downs are pretty trick.

Looks like a bad copy of Johnny Kaisers Alpha Car too me. Whats up with that?

There are 2 major similarities, but the bodies lines are nothing alike
1. rolled roof line
2. Front hood does not come to a point and go inside the bumper (like most other cars).
The fiberglass company we used is not involved in the Offroad community and does not know of the Alpha car and has not ever seen pictures of Johnny's body.
We gave them pictures of a lamborghini for the side moldings and a dodge charger for the front hood for a starting place. We spent alot of time with them changing things and still have quite a bit more to improve upon, but it is in no way a copy of his body.
I showed Johnny sketches of this exact body about 1 year ago to get his opinion of our car and our body. He said specifically it looks nothing like his car other than the fact that it has a rolled roof.

car is rad, really like the out of the box thinking.
But in your last set of pictures, the second picture, what is up with that abortion on the corner of the front bumper?
and about 18" away from it on the same tube by the shock mount, is that a miter cut in the tube in fron of the shock mounts?

yea i noticed those also... why not make a bend? it doesnt seem you need the extra clearance there.
i do realy like the way the rear suspention is set up. looks good!

Yes that is a mitre we cut off the front end a couple different times trying to come up with something we liked that would be most functional for visibility and work with the aesthetics of the hood.
Poor camera angle J/K. Unfortunately it is just that an abortion. A

Here is a pic of the old front end before the changes.
Yes we do plan on producing and selling them. They will be around $85k with a LS1 and Fortin.

Thanks, it was a different design and took quite a bit of work to get it working properly but now we are very pleased with our results.

I'm no fabber, but why don't the tubes in the rear X all intersect together? I think it need 2-3 more coats of powdercoat. I like the radius roof though.
