The good news is, SHE IS ALIVE and running amazing.

The bad news, the main seal is puking oil so the motor has to be pulled. I am super sad I wanted to test this weekend. I guess that happens with a motor sits in a project vehicle for 4 years.

Thats the anti-chassis rust device. Perfect for those beach runs in SF.

damn that sucks, I was looking forward to going out on the first run with you. throw some sawdust in there, that will fix her right up :)

The sawdust trick is for manual trannys. What you want is some of the ATF stop leak stuff!

Pull the trany, it is easier!

Pull the trany, it is easier!

Agreed and that is what we will do to attempt to fix it. Thank you.

Me thinks... drop trans, drop oil pan as much as she'll go, try to drop the rear main cap 1/2", change seals, put it all back together and say a quick prayer.

Who has a tranny jack we can borrow that's in or very near Irvine?

1 pc main or 2 pc? Nobody will let you use a shop lift on a saturday?

jeff

It's a mid-70's 350 block... Getting it to a shop lift is probably more trouble than it's worth.

On a more positive note... the shop still smells like gas and exhaust from last nights warm up... and it smells good.

that's a major bummer...will the truck make it out to primm???

John_Bitting
August 21st, 2007, 13:19
It wont make Primm. The seal has not leaked again after we ran it that night, so either the oil level is so low its not leaking or once the thing ran it sealed itself up. I did buy a new seal in the event I need to change it. I have not gotten a chance to test yet. I need to mount my new seats and the bedsides. Its close but I have been busy with family stuff so I have not touched it in two weeks. Its super close I could test this week but time is not on my side. I will shoot video and take pics when we do finally test so all will know. Then I will have to take PCIs GPS class so I know how to use this thing I bought from them.

Any news on testing and Truck condition? I wont be at the expo, BITD race is same weekend. What would be the next time the public gets a look? The 1000?

Well with any project changes are made all the time. I actually gave it to a buddy to help me finish up some little things on it. I bought new seats so he is changing the mounts for me. It will go to paint this Friday and be there until the expo. I have not tested in the dirt yet as the painter was not happy with me wanting to bring it to him filthy. We are undercoating the belly of it so its just smarter to stay out of the dirt until after the expo. I am looking forward to finally getting it in the dirt, its been a long time and I cant wait to see how she does. It sounds mean as hell though running.
