I know a CL1 driver who rented an SUV for Parker, that's why you get such a good deal on used rentals...

Not that I've ever taken a rental offroad :) but a tip is to take off all the underbody sheetmetal first.

Funny, I know who you know...and I remember that I believe it was an FX45.
Crazy to think 50k isnt bad anymore, but in the grand scale of it all it really isnt

I ran into a guy broken down in a rental Bronco in Sandy Valley at the 1986 Frontier 500.
It wasn’t funny until he told me he was on his third copy…
I will never forget that!

I pre-ran last years 1000 in a rental Jeep. Worked great, but the fuel tank in the rear had about 2 more inches of ground clearance when we returned thanks to San Felipe. I also had to replace a couple tires. Depending on how often you pre-run, $50,000 may be a good deal..

lol: If 200mph gets the ashtray can I take a peek between the couch cushions or bottom of the washer/dryer?
Looks good, you should contact one of the mags and do a write up on it. In this day n age <$50m for a very capable pre-runner would make good reading.
btw: I'm in the market for a budget prerunner/daily driver if anyone spots a good deal. A Caplains budget is <$10m.

Hyundai Sonatas make the best pre-runners. I have "tested" several different rental-cars and the Hyundai is the most stable in the air and seems to soak up whoops well due to the chassis flex. Wear a helmet, and bring a few cans of Fix-a-Flat though....
