Trying to find info on cool horns for an up and coming four seater project. Would prefer the toggle switch on the dashboard set up as compared to the microphone/memory type system that I found doing a seach. I want more than the basic honk and beep, and I want it loud. What do some of you use ?

Thanks in advance.

Buy a siren. THis is probably the wrong forum to ask this question too. The Mods. will move this to either SHOP or WHATEVER.

In my experience, auto horns or even the cheapo air horns (jc whitney, etc) just plain don't work well or last. I had problems all day that kept me from going fast in Parker this year, and the ONLY vehicle that I heard before it passed me was Pistol with that whistle/siren thingy he runs. I imagine most of the other cars that passed us had horns and were using them, but we really honestly never saw or heard anyone in the mirrors even though we were watching them carefully. Hopefully Pistol can chime in and say where to get one of those, because that's what I'll be using from now on. Our brand new dual trumpet air horn sounds like the gurgling cow in the road in "Me, Myself & Irene" after one race.

BTW, our engine is LOUD, especially when the mufflers fall apart like they did at this race.

Billy you have to run the horns facing down to keep them alive. It lets the crud and water fall out. My cheap air horn has seen many miles with no troubles and it is only ziptied in. I would like a louder horn thou..

Tony, they are mounted pointing down, but the little "compressor" gave up the ghost. I swear the grinding noise coming from that thing is louder than the trumpets now LOL.

Oh, and I do have a full-blown train horn at my disposal, but it weighs about 100 lbs.

Well worth the noise, just drop a spare.

Spray some WD40 back down the hose, that will bring them back to life, but those pumps are junk, use the horns but buy another pump. Something bigger. There is one that will work great for sale at Costco that will blow great for those horns.
