Or you say something that you have said in the past and get a warning, then others say worst things and nothing happens. not really a big deal, I'm still here with the ability to post

Infractions and Warnings are a way for us to better moderate the forum. We can issue an infraction and it automatically bans a user if the infraction points count is 5 or greater. Infractions are active for 30 days and permanently on record. There are infractions that get you 3 points. Two or more 3 point infractions within a 30 days period bring your total infractions count above 5 and would result into a 7 day ban.
When we issue an infraction it notifies all Moderators and we all know what is going on.
Prior to the infractions system we may PM'd or banned the offender and then had to manually log and email each other on what we did. Often not all Moderators got informed of what had happened to a user and then we got plaid.
The Banned user emails Moderator-B after Moderator-A baned him complaining about it but leaving out what they did. Then Moderator-B had to ask all other Moderators what may have happend. Now every Moderator knows what is going on at all times. Plus the user has a sheet that makes it easier for us to get an idea if some one is a repeat offender or not.
Sounds like Police and Court work doesn't it? This forum is supposed to be fun and we try to do our job as smooth and fun and in the background as possible. We overlook a lot of stuff with the intentions that this is a recreational place for lots of you and us. Nobody wants to see Police officers when visiting Disneyland or the Beach. However there are some rules set that make this forum what it is and we have to enforce them.
What will get you an infraction, warning or ban?

Wo, I always thought that everyone was astriking themselves. Filter technology is ****ing cool. (I astriked myself this time but good to know that in the heat of the action RDC has got me covered.) Typing with gloves on is hard.

I was desribing the guy that stole Coco's book. In the process I said the F-Word about 3 times.

I also got popped for the Coco's thread. Didn't spell out any nastys but I closed with 2 big one's that were a bit to close to legible. Admittedly over the top!
So do we always have these infractions listed with our info or do they leave in 30 days? I didn't really get that. I know the mods, will always see them but does everyone? It's just.... It's just..... It's like having a really bad tattoo in the computer world. I don't want to be judged by my (computer world version) Daffy Duck tat. Please Mods. I'll never get drunk and stumble into a tattoo parlor again (computer analogy). Please laser this thing off of me!

Oh, just a thought on the subject, not that I have a vote or anything, but. Liek teh rep marks that can be seen on peoples public profile, I would like to have the infraction stated in the profile as well. I rather have people know that I am stupid and cursed than let their minds wander about my infraction. "Did he Diss Pflueger?" "Did he attack Robby Gordon?" "Is he the dude that stole Coco's book?" I rather let everyone know why I got popped.
Just my 2 cents

Yeah, Rojo Phantasmo....I'm not sure your infractions look so "bad and cool"! It's only cool to have an infraction if you're a nice guy in the end...

Just for the record. I typed my own * in as well. I never actually spelled out the words at the end of my thread. Did start the words with the first letters. I imagine that was the "went to far" moment.

I am glad Klaus and the Admin. are enforcing the infractions rule and banning people. Luke goes on RDC and there is no need for him to be reading some of the crap people post. I also know for a fact that the Sourapas boys go on RDC (they tell me all the time! Haha) and they are very young. 11-12 years old.
RDC needs to crack down on these kind of people and hopefully teach them a lesson about what they say on the INTERNET!!
Also...There are a lot of new people on RDC now who are kind of "unknowns" to the off-road community. so they feel they can post whatever they want because no one knows them and probably can't find them at the races. Sometimes I feel like I cannot express what I really want to say because its not hard to find me at the races with my last name! (I am not boasting or bragging about my last name here) Last thing I want is some clown jumping me at the races because I gave them my opinion or sometimes the truth on RDC.
Basically, know what your talking about before you post a comment. Because the reality is, if you don't, you can expect to get a wake up call from the people on RDC who know their stuff!
Infraction system is a +!
Mad Props Klaus and RDC Admin!

Are you saying the "unknown's" shouldn't be posting? Thats just the impression I got. I may be "unknown" now but that will change as I get older and can race. I have gained invaluable knowlege on here even though I'm an "unknown". Not sure if you ment it that way but it seemed kind of disrespectful to me. Everyone has gotta start somewhere.

Don't worry...
you don't look so bad to those of us who come here often. It might make the newcomers wonder...but the rest of us understand your passion got the best of you...
But now that I think of it...I have seen others us the secret symbols to complete words and they didn't receive infractions....so what made you stand out?

Thanks. I just noticed I no longer have the infraction thing anymore. Cool!
I am not sure what got me popped. I didn't cheat the filter, so maybe Klaus or another mod was reading the thread and noticed it. Klaus sent me a PM when I got the infraction. He was very cool about it. Said (roughly) I am getting a warning (no points removed) for bad language. He added that he understood and agreed with my point. I just needed to simmer down. I have no complaint about getting popped. I reread my post after I got the infraction and honestly, the way I spaced the final line (with the nasties in it) it looked really bad. Wouldn't have been as bad if it were in the main body of my post.
Like Dan said there are quite a few youngsters that read RDC, I am no roll model but should mind my pirate mouth, err... or keyboard.
