I was wondering what type of neck restraints you guys are using and what you guys would recomend to be used for a person racing in a 5/1600. Thanks.

I use a CROW neck brace/pad. I think I got it from ORW. I currently use a neck brace that is thick in the back and tapers to the front. this helps with movement. I tried a thick pad but it was to contstricting.

A neck roll is not a neck restraint! All a neck roll will do is limit some helmet movement and possibly reduce fatigue.
There are a few neck restraint systems out there and several opinions on which is the best. Seach the "Head and Neck restraint" on google or RDC, I'm sure you'll get more info than you can stand.

Call us if you need more help.

I use a D-cell for head and neck restraint. It really helps control your head and seems to reduce the fatigue after riding in the car. It is a bit tricky to get used to because of the somewhat limited movement but after a few races I didnt notice it. I am able to leave it hooked on and get out to change a tire or work on the car and hop back in. It is nice because it relies on a harness on your body rather than the older style that clips into the belts. It makes me feel much more secure in the car just knowing I have it. We go ours through Camburg and had the helmet kits installed by Parker Pumper. I know Simpson has a device as well as the HANS device that is used in other forms of racing. For the price the D-cell is hard to beat, for the amount of money we spend to go racing this system for $600 is well worth it.

i use the D-cell. when you set it up right you can only tell you have it on when you sit in the seat..when i stand up or change a tire its hard to tell you got it, but its way better than a head roll..they act like a folcrum point to extend your neck

I think a D-Cell is necessary from a Rhino to a Trophy Truck. It doesn't take much speed with the right impact to cause serious damage if you are wearing only a collar

I used to use the sparco advanced neck support.

But after a freind of mine broke his neck face planting a Race Range Rover doing about 60mph i have gone onto hans device. Takes a little getting used to but now i wouldnt wear anything else. BTW not cheap.

Hope this helps.

We have decided that we are definitely going to use some sort of neck safety device but we haven't really decided which, we are between the D-Cell of Hans device.

Have you looked into the Leatt Brace by any chance? They have a brace designed for motorycles that is just not gaining popularity in the US for MX/SX.

They also have a car brace that seems interesting. I don't know about the availability of it in the US yet, but I know of one TT team that is trying to set up a testing session to get fitted for one, and to see if it fits thier needs.

You might want to call the guys at Leatt for some more info.

I am really thinking about getting a d-cell. The only thing is, I have heard you can't wear a piss tube with one because of where the straps come together around your crotch. Are any of you guys wearing the d-cells having a problem with the pee tubes?
