Smooth Paint For Go-kart Floorboard

I am repainting my go-kart and THe was a bunch of unever spaint and stickers and other stuff that made it very uneven. I dont want to scrape the whole floorboard. Is there any way put some very thick coat down before the paint to make it smooth? Would it be easier to just replace the whole floorboard?

A thick coat of anything sounds like unnecessary weight. More weight = more slow.
