How about a Video Forum?

Sometimes I miss videos because I can't log in for any reason, if we had a forum for videos it would be easier to keep track.

And it would be great for those times my kid says: "Hey dad, seen any good videos over at Race-Dezert lately?" I'd just have him go check himself without me searching!

I think it is a great suggestion. One of the positives about this site is the vidoes clips that are shared right now. Making them more available by creating a forum for videos sounds like a fantastic idea.

Would they be linked or uploaded. Keep it simple and keep the storage of videos at other sites. With youtube and all the other sites to upload too, linking would be the easiest way. Also, teams with web sites that have videos and desert video producers can put a link to them.

I find that as RDC gets more and more chopped up I spend less and less time using it. It used to be there was one shop section and I could look at an entire days worth of NEW shop related posts on one screen... now that there are 8 sections (and me being lazy) I don't bother.

So RDC creates a video section... that then begs the question, does RDC have to also create a photo section? My opinion is dividing the videos out will be great for people that just want to watch videos. From my own experience it will also reduce the interaction of users with the site. If you have to search around a little bit to find multimedia content you are also looking at threads that might be of interest to you... if you aren't looking at other threads you might miss out on a good bit of the site. I'm guilty of that with the SHOP section. Personally I'd prefer to keep the videos intermixed with the rest of the site.

An option would be to include a special VIDEO post tag in the subject, a funky code that you could search for... this code would ONLY pop up in video posts...

I like the forum idea. Perhaps Klaus can write a script that would send a redirect to the General (or Race) forum. Kind of like when you move a thread and you have the option of leaving a link (redirect) to its new location, but in reverse. Shouldn't be too hard to code.

What about keeping it as a "log" of all the videos that have been posted, rather than moving all the videos to a special section. That way if you can't find a vid, cuz it's been bumped back to page 8 or something, you can just check the video section and it will have all the links to them?

Here is a link to most of the videos I have posted. I did an advanced search looking for posts by me and video in the title. Try searching the same with other producers names and video in the title and you will have plenty to watch.
