Anybody have updates on Crandon? i was listening to dirtnewz.com livecoverage but i think they were having major technical difficulties. Anybody catch anything? I'm most interested in hearing what happened to john marking and rob naughton...

Pro 4 - Jonny Greaves, Kurt Leduc, Josh Baldwin
Typical Jonny, got the lead and ran away with it. Huseman rolled pretty good. Renezeder was in the top three the whole race but then broke down (unknown why).
Pro 2 - Scott Taylor, Evan Evans, either Van Huevel or Josh Baldwin
Got the hole shot and no one could catch him. Whelchel got 4th.
Prolite- Kyle Leduc, Chad Hord, not sure who got 3rd.
Marking spun out once and put him back a little Kincaid was leading for a while but then looked to break an axle.
Sportsman 2 - RDC's Ross Hoek got 3rd

Weather was pretty crazy today. Started off overcast, then the sun came out, then it rained pretty good, sun, overcast, poured, overcast, rain, sun lol.

Hola Amigos,

Jason summed it up perfect --- the weather blasted us rough.

The "eye of the severe thunderstorm" that began about the time the Pro-Lites started and continued through the Pro-4 race was centered in alignment with our mobile Sat system and the SatMex 5 satellite, which then created the broken transmissions.

Although, thanks to Nascar's Brenden Gaughn, he joined Scott Rehn who called the race for us as the Crandon track utilized a local announcer and Rehn was sidelined to the DN crew. Gaughn hinted that he'll be here racing in the Crandon Fall Race.

The latest update is that it rained ALL night long here at Crandon and not just sprinkles. It poured very hard for 5 hours beginning about 11 pm.

They have cancelled morning practice due to the rain and muddy track so its going to be "run what your brung" here in a couple hours.

Rain is intermittent here during the past few hours and the sportsman classes are almost underway....

Desertbull,
I think you maybe over stating the rain situation. At 11pm it was very nice outside about 1000 people were standing outside drinking beer and listening to the concert until after 12 and then a bunch of us went to the bar until 2:45 (bar closing in Crandon is adjustable when the race is in town) and we went back to pits and it was still not raining. It did rain at night but for the Midwest it really was pretty minor. When it rains hard at Crandon they have to tow the motorhomes out of the pits with the National Guard hummers.

The track was wet for the first few races but it helped keep the dust down most of the day.

I would like to give a big thumbs up to a few drivers from out west that did a great job in their first weekend at Crandon:
#41 “Monster” driver Jerry Welchel, John Marking and Marty Coyne all adjusted really quickly to the track and conditions and look to be contenders at future races.

The displaced desert racers would really like to thank all of the West Coast teams for coming to the Midwest and adding to the fun at Crandon.

Josh and the guys in the Monster pits, Big thumbs up!

Herbst team also gets a big thumbs up for spending all that money on they greatest collection of toys I have ever seen. We heard nothing but good things about them all weekend. We wish you better luck next race.

We did talk to a few drivers that thought the track was slippery, to that I say you haven’t seen anything yet. I promise you will eventually look forward to the occasional mud run. Some also seemed perplexed about driving on that slippery green stuff (grass), don’t worry it will seem like fun after you get use to it.

Huge thumbs up to the new 85mph camera that flys over the course providing the absolute best coverage ever. It really is amazing how well it captures the excitement of the race.

It really was a great weekend of racing.

Well, to sum things up it was alot of great racing. I just wanted to thank everyone for putting on an impressive showing and give a few thanks.

First I have to thank Rick (sickrick) for letting me play with his toys (number 41 formula 4x4 bronco) this weekend. And say congratulations on the third place finish sunday.

I would also like to thank the guys from the pitbull tires pit for lending us the parts we needed to fix our truck after my less than impressive rookie debut on saturday. I have since learned that 450hp/500 foot pounds of torque is just too much for driveshafts and axles when the transfer case is left in low range.

Josh and the monster pit guys, awesome showing last weekend and I look forward to seeing you guys down at wide open. And thanks for the case of monster, it came in handy on the drive home.

The worst part about the weekend was riding the motorcycle in the rain on the way home

Just got in from Crandon and oh my god was it alot of fun.I went to crew cheif for Randy Eller and Don Ponder and also help Mark Oberg. On Saturday Randy started in the middle second row and after the first lap was in second place behind Kincaid.Don and Mark were running mid pack. After a few laps Randy started to notice a loss in power and the front shocks were not working properly but he was still able to finish third and move up to 8th in points and get to start on the pole Sunday.Don finished 12th and I bebieve Mark got 6th.On Sunday the rain came in all night to make for a great race track in the afternoon.Randy started on the pole and got the holeshot into turn one just ahead of Kincaid but didn`t get the door shut and lost the lead shortly after that the trans got stuck in second and he was just going to drive it around but then noticed the oil lite was on and shut it off as we lost the dry sump belt.Don got 10th and I`m not sure where Mark finished as he lost a valve rocker.Today while removeing Randy`s engine we found the cause of the power loss it was a brocken header.Motor will be at A&P machine tomorrow to get repaired and we will be back in Bark river next weekend.I would like to Thank Randy and Kathy Eller,Don Ponder, Mark Oberg and his familly and everyone else that helped this weekend for having me there. Just Bill/Bonfire racing Maxxis pro lite # 11 and Afton lawn equipment #88

Crandon was a blast, We cant wait to take both our single buggies back there for the Labor Day race. My teamate Troy Morgan with the help from Robert Naughton was able to get his car out there, and after he had a bad day on Saturday is was still nice enough to let me stuff myself in his car and race it to a 8th place finish on Sunday. It was also nice meeting and talking to all the Single buggy guys back there, hopfully we can make a better run at you guys on Labor Day.

Thanks to Maxxis Tires, Napa Auto Parts, Gear-1 and Sign-a-Rama for all there help.

Look for Volkspower Racing at Chula Vista in July, and then we will head back east for the Big one on Labor Day.
