Kenwood makes a nice one for a hundred and fifty approx. call the ham radio store in san diego and you can get the unit and the schematic to modify the unit.

I ordered the Icom 208H from HRO and an antenna, mag mount , and external speaker from PCI. With small mods this radio should rock. I will install it later this week and will be very similar to this article. Jordans Realm (http://www.jordansrealm.com/newproducts/icom-208h/icom-208h.htm)

Call Scott at PCI and check if he has some used radio's or check Ebay for a icom v8000 for around $185 + shipping.

Scott might be pre-running for the baja 500 I am not sure? Anyone at PCI sould be able to help.

It depends on who you get it from some come with the mod already so just make sure before you bid.

Make sure the icom v8000 has the MARS/CAP modification which opens it up to talk on most UHF and VHF frequencies.

Just bought the v8000 and did the mod. It took me longer to unpack the radio than it did to do the mod. It is super simple. Only tool required was a pair of needle nose pliers.
