Need some advice on which Optima to buy. It is for a '92 cherokee which is basically stock, but sits for long periods of time since it is no longer the daily driver. Optima's web site shows no applications for this year. Does it make that much difference which one you use? I have also heard of some people going with the Blue Top Deep cell ones for cars/trucks such as mine that are mainly off-road used with longer down times between usages, and perhaps more accessories. Any help appreciated.

Buy An Old Battery From Someone.
Then Cut Out The Guts, Very Carefully.
Then Put Your Six Pack In And Ice Of Course.
Now Put The Top Back On.
You Have Yourself A Hiden Cooler.
Buy Anyoneyou Want. They All Make Great Coolers!!! Lol

I've really abused my red tops, they've held up pretty well considering. In my 88toy I had to buy a battery box though from Kartek because it wouldn't fit properly. I'm not familiar under the hood of jeeps to know if your going to need the box. It was cheap anyways...

I'm a fan of the red top for starting duties and the blue (or yellow) for aux., but you will find there are people here who both agree and disagree. Both my race car and chase truck go long periods between starts sometimes and the batteries are fine. If you search you will find another thread where this was discussed to death.

We chose the NAPA orbitals. Less expensive. Easy replacements compared to Optima, you local napa store. So far so good. Just a thought.

I had run the plain redtops in my cherokee for a long time prior to it being built for racing, which it is still running the optimas. I would just get the red top and one of those battery tenders that make sure your charge stays up.

I second the battery tender. Optimas do not take a fast charge so if they go real low it takes a long time to get them charged back up.
