stage 14 - Saturday 14 January 2006 | Tambacounda > Dakar (http://www.dakar.com/2006/DAK/LIVE/us/1400/parcours.html)
Connection 107 km
Special 254 km
Connection 273 km
Total 634 km
Westward bound

Along the Senegalese tracks, co-drivers will once again be on call. The special is longer than last year’s and numerous changes in direction might lead those who are not focused up the wrong road. In other words, there are still minutes up for grabs or which can be lost. After an attractive liaison stretch, entry into Dakar will take in a tranquil tour of Senegalese villages.

Sure getting lonely at the end of this... who's left watching?

Ryan... I've sure enjoyed your posts and Marks audio updates...

Well looks like the Mitsubishis are coasting to the finish. Mark once again did very well, but is still 3 min behind Peterhansel. Blais’ 4th position looks fairly comfortable.

Man, he came so close to getting in front of Peter. Great effort.

The BMW's really went on a tear today. The BMW exec who signs the checks for this must have called from Germany last night to ask where his return-on-investment is. They have been pretty quiet all race. But consistent. Today they grabbed the headlines.

Turk - This ole codger is still watching. I am still PO'd they held Mark back in some earlier stages. He could now be in a solid 4th and maybe a podium by now if they hadn't. Tis pretty much a done deal now as I don't think there will be any passing on the last stage on the beach. Mark did his job though.

I am proud of Blais and Street for their fabulous rides. Gawd, I would hate to do the Dakar on a bike!!! Hope Street gets some help next year in support and sponsorship. And of course I hope Robby does a little more R&D before next year, which given he has a year instead of ninety days prep time, I am sure he will.

N°309 - Mark Miller :
« There was a Pro-Truck on its side at the 30 kilometre mark. Its driver was already waiting with a tow rope. To pull it onto its wheels again took us a minute. We are now in fifth place only three minutes behind Peterhansel – it wouldn't have been enough to give us fourth. »

A big congrats to Chris Blais for taking 4th overall bike. Thats awesome. The other USA riders on the team, Jonah Street and Andy Grider should also be proud. What a great accomplishment.
