I just picked up a Baja 480c, and was wondering how I could load a map image into it. I'm not looking for tracks, but just some lines to show me different trails. Is this possible with mapcreate6?

Map create isused for street maps. If you want to load a trail map to look at download the 1000 map. Plug in your card reader with the card into it into your computer. Go into windows explorer and the card will show up as a drive when you click on my computer. Find the map file you down loaded and hold the right mouse button on it and drag it onto the card. Copy it there. Then click on the card and check that the file is copied. Now exit and remove the card. Place it in the gps and turn it on. Press menu - menu - system setup - scroll down to TRANSFER MY DATA - ENT and a screen appears. Transfer data from mmc to the unit. Press LOAD - ENT.
When it says data transferred hit exit repeatedly untill you get to the map screen. Use the arrow buttons to scroll down to the course map and there you have it. If you want to delete it go menu -menu - system setup - delete my way points. This will get the map out of the unit. I save old maps on my computer so I can load them when we go testing.

Map Create also has pretty good detail of trails, fire roads, etc. Just save your map border file at max. detail for the area you want. This is a huge help when going exploring or off-roading in a new area-even better if you have a good map to cross-check and back it up with. One other thing, Lowarence usually sends a 16meg card with units that come with a card- go get a bigger one and drop a bigger map onto your gps, the SD cards aren't that much now. I don't know of any way to scan maps into map create-don't know if that's possible. I have a 480c in our Polaris Ranger-good unit.

I just bought a i-finder and the map create 6 it came with a 64 meg mmc/sd card I bought a 512 sd card registerd it and it and the map create software still wont save a map to it. once this problem is worked out I will prerun on the quad then can use the data in the truck.
There are quite a few of the dirt roads on the maps. I also bought the delorme topo maps and with those you can get arial and satelite images to overlay your maps with that you can see every trail out there.
