I wanted to get any suggestions or pics of how people may have mounted a gps unit in a stock truck. I am heading to the 1000 and want to take our Globalmap 5000c with me to help get around. My truck is a bone stock 04 tacoma so I dont want to tear it up too much and it will be just for this race then taken out. Has anybody tried to do something similar to this with good results? Doesn't have to be with a tacoma, looking for ideas in regards to stock trucks. Thanks for the help, trying to get everything ready for my first 1000.

check out www.ram-mount.com
on my buddies truck he did the heavy duty suction cup mount on the window and a piece of velcro on the dash just to keep it from bouncing.

Thanks for the link, looks like they have some great stuff. Sent them an e-mail about one of the suction cup mounts, I want it to hang down right above the middle of the dash. Let ya know how it works out. We are heading down there to chase for our friends in the 8 truck. First race out since the flip last Feb in lucerne.

I got a ram mount in my Landcruiser. Very happy with it. Got it from www.gpscity.com
It has a heavy duty 4" Suction cup that seems to hold very well. It has some slight vibration, which seems to go away if something is leaning on it, for instance, if i position it so that it rests on the dash.
I plan on using this setup for the 1000 as well with my 276C

Here is a pic of my other option (i like this, on a LONG trip and its not as intrusive @ night) if i want to run the external antenna

What you have there on your window is exactly what I am looking for. Looks like I will need to get the universal rectangular mount with a 1'' ball then get the 4'' suction cut that will accecpt a 1'' ball mount. Thanks for the pics

In my S-10 i used a Garmin dash mounting kit and it works great for off-roading, its really strong and holds well.
