Hello everybody. I have three questions pertaining to wiring a race truck. One: Has anyone had experience with shortening the 25’ GPS antenna cable for a Lowrance 6500C? Two: When wiring a MSD 6 ignition box, can you wire the main positive and negative wires to a plug? For example: Delphi Packard Metri-Pack 280 Series Plug. Which are good for 30 amps. Someone once told me it needed to be hooked directly to the battery with no interruptions. Three. Where do you guys buy your Mil-spec circular connectors? For example: Amphenol, Bendix, Deutch or Cannon. Particularly a place that doesn’t have a minimum order policy. Thanks in advance for your help.

#2, yes, I ran mine on a weather pack connector for years. Makes it a lot easier to disconnect when tig welding something.

For shortening the gps cable check with Lowrance. They sell a repair kit That has I believe the antenna end connector. I saw it once on I think the LEI extras page but I'll be darned if I can't find it again. As for the msd box the metri-pack conn should be fine. The boxes draw approx 10 amps under load. For the amphenol connectors Newark In One (www.newarkinone.com) has them in their cat. You can get solder or crimp type. I don't know of any minimums on them. Under $25 adds a $5 charge. They also have Honeywell Mil spec. (mil-s-3950)toggle switches. They are rated to 15 amps and are sealed.
