Rear spring rate

Search gave me nothing and neither did a certain shop in SoCal. can anyone tell me what rates they run and a dual rate coilover on the rear of their baja bug. I have 12 2.5 saw shocks. 3x3 rear arms and a 22 gal fuel cell in the back seat. I know this is less than scientific but I need a clue. I already have 250# 12" springs that I will most likely use unless I get info that that is just a no go. Thanks all.....

I think 250# is lightest stock spring available without going custom. Depending on your shock location on the arm I have seen everywhere from 250 over 250 to 300 over 350. I would start with 250 over 300. Mock up your car in your shop/garage with that (or whatever you decide on) and everything on the car. If you can get your desired ride height with between 1-2" of spring preload you have a good starting point. Be careful not to scratch or damage the springs during mockup and most shops will exchange the springs for a different size if they are not damaged.

It really depends on where your shocks are set up on the car. Ours are pretty far forward on the arm and it has 500 over 500 on it now. (Those are test numbers from ORW, not numbers off the box) It's actually soft enough with those springs that my partner tore the skid plate off at the 500. Given that, I'm also interested to hear what other 5 cars are running.
