I wanted to know what type of spark plug works best for a 97 Ford Ranger 4.0L. I have heard that if your running a plug that is too hot, then it causes it to misfire and run rough... any truth to that? Also, any input on what wires to use would be helpful. Thanks.

i have a 95 4.0 and have the bosch platinum plugs...i wouldnt recommend them they run to hot. When i got new jba wires it cause a mis-fire in the 6th cyclinder so i just put the old wire back on. I think i am going to switch them out to like an NGK copper plug

DKThree, don't use anything other than the factory specified Motorcraft spark plug.

Run OE. And have fun changing them. It was a pain in the fingers to get to them.
