the motor in my toyota is getting a face lift along with everything else on the truck. My question is, can some of u who know more than me, give me your opinion if i should run a carb set up, or keep the EFI.

truck is a 91 pick up, came with EFI.

new head is off a 22r, not sure if everything is the same between the 22r and 22re.

will be running big bore pistons, head has already had all the machining done, but i dont have all the specifics on it yet. its from a friend who runs HBR competition engines and specializes in head work.

all new valve train, cam, timing set up etc.

id like to run a carb set up for ease of set up, wiring etc.

but im afraid to run into issues on unreliability by doing so.

so can u guys give me your opinions on which set up you would recomend, prefer?

thanks

matthew

What are you're plans for the vehicle? Daily driver? Race Truck? Weekend warrior?

its a race truck, ill be running the entire SNORE series next year, with a few MDR races. im not worried about it being street legal or anything. Im more or less looking to make my life simpler.

keep the EFI, just learn how to do nice wiring.

I second the EFI the heads are the same. Much less headache than the carb system

Go with EFI. We swapped our 7s truck from a 22r to a 22re - big difference in the power band and driveability.
