All,

On behalf of Dana, Scott, Rich, Mouse and myself, I wanted to extend a personal note of thanks to all of you on RDC for your love and passion in regards to the Dust to Glory project. It's been a long summer since the movie opened in terms of a disappointing box office, but the news of all the DVD sales gives us all hope that we will still make out ok on this. The best part, at least for all of us, is that you folks really liked a film that we are sure will eventually become a classic.

As for the differences in DVD prices, that is out of our hands unfortunately. Sony and IFC Films are banking on sales of at least 500,000 units, which makes the distribution parameters much different than something more organic in influence like a DP3. It's all a matter of scale.

Oh, and by the way, much love to all of you for your kind comments and purchases of my book 1000 Miles to Glory.

Vaya con Dios,

Marty Fiolka

Disappointing box office? That sucks. I saw it twice at the theatre. And my wife just ordered two copies of the DVD yesterday.

The movie definitely rocks.

Your book is great too Marty.

My wife said she say it at Wal Mart, and there were two copies left on the shelf. Same thing at Best Buy. I'm hoping it stays up. Everyone I know is more than willing to shell out $20 for a copy.

I think that all of us racers and enthusiasts should be thanking you guys too for all the hard work you guys have put into trying to bring this little thing we all call Desert Racing into the mainstream. With all the exposure we have been getting lately it should hopefully bring some money to the sport, which in turn should help out us racers in the financing department. We all love this sport, and that’s what drives us all. I can’t think of another form of racing that has this much money getting pumped into it by the racers and so little paid back out for a podium finish. I think we can all hope to pick up some sponsors out of all of this media exposure.

Thank you Marty, Dana, Scott, Rich, Mouse, and everyone else who has helped out to bring desert racing into the mainstream.

Marty,
I was at the Monrovia show, saw it in Ontario, could not wait for the release on DVD. I took my Wife and eight year old son with me to both, she now understands why I love racing and she is behind me when I leave. The boy can not wait for us to race with me like JN and Jimmy Roberts, he said this to me in the theater and it brought a tear to my eye. I have a new thing to look forward to now.

What you guys have done is touched the hearts of the 1 in 1,000,000 persons that even know what the Baja 1000 is. You did a great job with the film for the off road community. You have helped a few of us make those that dont ride understand.

The weatherman was in the front row in Monrovia, I shook his hand on the way out and the he could not speek, I thanked him and we will talk next time.

Dont feel bad about the theators, you will do well with the DVDs.

Please check you PMs.

Great job guys.

PS we are watching it again, cant get enough.

I took my 76-year-old mom and my course crew to opening night for Dust to Glory here in Vegas... the theater was 75% full ... She always hears us talk about the races and what went on when we get back from one, but never really understood the passion, comraderie and emotion behind our words recounting a race... I watched my mom laugh, cheer, root for the class 11 guys, and get teary-eyed watching your movie... now she completely understands about all of the long days and nights it takes getting prepared, the insanity around here the few days before a race, and how worn out I am when I get home but my eyes are still full of fire talking about the race I just got back from .... and most of all how important race weekend is to all of us... thank you all for putting into words and video to share with those who have never experienced what off-road racing is really about...

To all,

I am honestly humbled by all your kind and heartfelt words in regards to D2G. While we all worked hard in hopes of getting a payday someday, making money was not the prime motivation for any of us who worked in producing the movie. We all vowed to finally give this great race its proper homage, and hopefully make a classic we will all look at years from now and still love. Sounds like we did that, and you know that Sly Stallone could never say that about Driven.

Again, from all of us to all of our supporters, thank you.

Vaya con Dios,
Marty

PS...love the picture from the Baja 1000. 1-2/1600...those were the days!

Very very very good movie. Saw it in monrovia at the premiere. Went to get tickets for the later show and realized every show was sold out except for the one just about to start. Got tickets and we watched it in the very front row. Bought the DVD and have made family and friends watch it who all say 'what a good movie' at the end. Get chills at least 5 times each time I watch it. Thank you

Thanks to all of you for the movie. Recieved the two copies I ordered in the mail threw a last minute carne asada, D2G screening party and had nothing but great reviews from the non-race people and race people who watched.
The second copy was for passing around and it has led to several other people having to go out and buy there own. That alone speaks for how great D2G really is!

Best wishes to Mouse!

Marty,

Thank you and everyone who had a hand in making D2G, to describe this movie in one word is like trying to describe the B1K in a word and I can't do it. My buddies laugh at me because in certain parts I go through it frame by frame and find my entire team in the background. It's very true that movies like Driven or Days of Blunder will never become classics but for me D2G ranks right up there with Grand Prix, LeMans, and On Any Sunday as one of the great racing and riding movies of all time.

Like it has been said many times on this board I show this to people who know nothing about the sport and every one of them has come away with a positive opinion about the movie and the sport. Thanks again.

Marty - thanks for all your hard work and dedication to this sport and the the movie specifically. I have been on the outside looking in, and I hated to wait an extra year (seemed like) for the movie to come out. I've told my friends about it, but until you watch a race, or see the movie, they really don't seem to get it. After watching your movie, the desire to spend time in the desert "just watching trucks go by" makes a lot more sense to them.

Thanks for helping me justify my limited time in the desert.
