my girl bought some 295/70/16 bfg all terrains for her f350 from sams club,no big deal a little larger than stock.well sams club would not mount them because "they are not a truck tire they do not have a ten ply or more sidewall".after arguing with smart guy for a few minutes i told him thank you and to load the tires.i figured go somewhere else whatever.i go to discount with the tires and talk to what turns out to be smart guy number 2 who says the cant mount them to stock wheels and we would need to buy the correct width wheel.he showed me a chart that said to run a 295 you needed between an 8 and 12 inch wide wheel.while i think a 12 would look awesome and super 80's well anyway.i ended up going to big o to a friend of mine that told me they are doing some strange liability things these days and that was one he hadnt heard of yet.he had the tires on the truck in 30 minutes as well as dismounting two 37s on beadlocks for 80 bucks.has anyone else had the pleasure of dealing with this or was it just my "luck".

It's becoming the norm. A buddy wanted to get a set of BFG A/T's mounted and balanced... 285/70R16's for his Ram 2500. Costco told him that because it wasn't a Load Range E rated tire they wouldn't touch them. I tried to get some tires swapped on the rims for the WRX last year and two shops wouldn't even do that... one said the wear was too uneven and the other said the tires weren't DOT legal. Took them to the local 76 station up here and the guy did it 10 minutes and charged be $20.00 bucks.

I think you should have gone with the 12" wide wheels... that'd look hot on a Super Duty. Especially with a 295 series tire that isn't even 12" wide at the tread.

For the bigger companies like costco and sam's club (Wal-mart) they are more worried about a big law suit, the $50 they would make mounting your tires means nothing to them. My roomie workes at goodyear and they will do anything for a price that isn't obscenely dangerous! Basically we can all still find someone who will do it, its just going to take a little more driving and a few more bucks in some cases
