I recently read a review in the latest edition of Dirt Sports about King's new jack, which looks like a shock but is operated with impact to raise trucks, similar to pnematic set-ups without the complexity. When I first saw it I thought to myself, that would work great for my bender, simple, strong as hell, shiny, plus the body is fully threaded so setting it up would be super simple. I have been looking on the internet for pics but cant find any, what are your guy's thoughts? I think this could be a really good way to convert a manual bender into a powered bender.

It probably isn't strong enough. Most hydraulic benders use a 10-ton or higher ram. If memory serves me correctly the King jack is designed for lighter weight buggies.
Why not just buy a hydraullic ram and pump off eBay?

I saw this jack in action at their booth for the baja 500. It's a good idea for benders but I would bet the jack is capable of 4000 lbs or less. King might produce something a little more Heavy duty but I doubt it would be capable of the tonage a bender needs.

and for the price he said it cost, i think you could set it up w/ a normal hydro set up

I saw a guy on Pirate that had converted his bender by useing a long acme threaded shaft, and a drill, I guess it turned out pretty good. I am just trying to find alternate methods other then hydraulic to power the bender.

you should check out the JMR manual bender it uses a gear box with a socket wrench to bend its cool tool.

i am not a fabricator so i gave/traded it to a good friend of mine... i just thought it was very ironic that of all the prizes in the raffle i won something from jim :)
