View Full Version : Rims? Ready to go for 5/8" studs and large lugs

Ok, so the smallest, stupidest things can really be the biggest pain in the ***. Here's the question. Who makes a (15x8 rim) 5 on 5.5, ready to bolt up to 5/8 studs, with the large nascar style lugnuts? The rims I have are great rims from a reputable manufacture, but require much machining to get them to work, which includes maching into the center bore of the rim. I am going to run them, but was still curious who makes rims ready to bolt up. Thanks in advance.

I've heard you can get Outlaw 2's from american racing already machined for 5/8" studs and clearanced for the larger socket.

jim conner has american racing wheels already converted to beadlocks and they are available race drilled and spot faced for the large lug nuts. i ran these until i switched to the 16" toyo tires.

Protruck sells exactly what you are talking about.

I think the rims ProTruck sells are drilled for 11/16 studs, not 5/8 studs.

Well then please ignore my post. Thanks for the clarification

i don't know if they are still in business but you can give them a try... we had some wheels drilled out by them a while ago... they are right near mckenzies.

Uh can't u just put the rims on a drill press with a larger drill bit?
I was at DMZ Tim's house and he was drilling out Pat Kapko's lug holes for the bigger studs 5/8's I believe but now if u are also talking about getting the center opening opened up then yeah u should leave that to a reputable shop. Just my two cents.

I have a set of rims on my Bronco already drilled for 5/8 studs. What size drill bit do I use to install 5/8 studs?

It is a little more complicated than just throw them on the drill press or grab the Riobi. I was actually using my mill to drill them and then some special tooling to open up the taper for the larger lugs (it wasn't that fun). If you need the center bores machined out, you are gonna need to find someone with a good sized lathe. Any journeyman machinist could handle it with ease.

All said and done, I would recommend going where Ollie goes. PBR has racing for years and already figured out what and who works!
