Bronco MAS

I am in the process of cleaning up the fenderwell areas so that I can install glass on my Bronco and decided to add a filter straight off the intake tube. The problem is I disconected the Mass Airflow Sensor. My question is what are my options? can I not run the mas or is there some kind setup that I can use in it place. Thanks in advance.

You could convert it to a speed density system, like you would find on a 88 Mustang 5.0, speed density has limitations like the inability to add a aftermarket cam or a supercharger, ect. without causing erratic idling and fuel control issues. You would need to change the pcm and probably the engine electrical harness.

I think you might be better off finding a clean way to run the mass air flow sensor.

92? and up for the 5.0 and 96 for the 5.8. Stick with the MAF set-up, you don't want anything to do with the speed density set-up.

Put me down for vote 3.
Ford ditched speed density for a reason. Also, there's a reason Ford Motorsport sells a MAF meter conversion and not a speed density conversion. Something else to think about is when converting to a conical or any other shape clamp on air filter, make sure it has at least as much, prefferably more surface area than the stock filter you're replacing. Also, make sure it's drawing fresh air not hot underhood air.

Mass Air was also on the 5.8 in 1995 for trucks with Calif emissions,
the only year you could get a MAF 5.8 w/o OBD-II.

Back to the question, you need to find a way to put the MAF back on
and find another way to mount your filter.
