I've been researching this but haven't quite found what I am looking for. What ton press would be considered the "minimum" needed to do dimple die work? What size/model presses are everyone using? I am looking into a press for our shop mainly for dimple die work, but I'm sure it would come in handy other times too, so I want a decent unit. Thanks for the help,

Have you looked at Mittler Bros. (http://www.mittlerbros.com)? They offer a lot for sheet metal work and have a semi-dedicated bench top press. With optional tooling it can punch, shear, bend, louver, and flare(dimple die).
If that's not exactly what you're looking for then the tons of pressure required to punch mild steel are as follows: based on 11 ga (1/8")
Hole: Tons:
1/8"---1.2
3/16"---1.8
1/4"---2.4
3/8"---3.5
1/2"---4.7
5/8"---5.9
3/4"---7.1
7/8"---8.3
1"-----9.4
1.5"---14.0
2"-----18.8
2.5"---23.5
3"----28.2
Hope this helps......

The thickest it would be for would be 1/8" so those numbers help a lot, thanks!
