What width should I run, there is a Currie 62" for sale here? But is this wide enough?

Not even close. Start around 74".

I feel the correct width for a 8 truck form the out side of tire to tire should be from about 84" to 87" and about 2" less in the rear.

OK, just off the phone with Currie. This is what I have come up with.
9" Ford Rear (74" wide)with the extreme housing, 35 spline axles with any ratio I decide
1350 yoke, 5/8" studs and disk brakes for basically $3200.
Should or shouldn't I?
TIA

I dont think 35 spline is enough for a 5000lbs class 8 IMHO...what brakes is that with??

I would run a full floater rear end. Check out Tubeworks, Currie makes a full floater, Desert Specialties does, Call Baja Concepts, I think RacerX sells a nice one also. You will not want anything less on a class 8. I was told 35 spline axles would be alright not the best but should not be a problem.

Have you built the front end of the truck yet? If you havent, you might whant to becouse this is where it is critial in fitting all the stuff into a small space. Ie, shocks, bumps, brakes, steering, arms and on and on. My point is the front usally sets the width of the truck and the rear is just a little narrower.
Hope it helps.

Also check out Mittler Bros. Rear ends, very good price and quality.

Just got the phone with Tubeworks, it looks like that is the direction I should go if I do not find a used one. The total price is going to be bewtween 8 and 9K for everything. I guess I am going to have to sell a lot of computers and photos.

we use a tubeworks rearend on our 7s with 35 to 40 outside axle that came from tubeworks which we recently broke at tt 250 so you might want to check on a 40 40 for the extra tourque
